Just an observation today but I noticed that there were 33,500 (or thereabouts) at this match yesterday. Proof that football is alive and kicking (unintended pun) outside the PL.
If we do go down, I hope Sheff Wed come up from a purely selfish point of view as it is now relatively easy to get to - but I recall my first visit there when I was living in Basingstoke to the FA Cup 6th round in 1984 - score was 0-0 and went to a replay. There was a long convoy of coaches from down south at that time and I think the Miners strike was taking place at the time. |  | | |  |

The long line of Saints coaches parked up the hill away from Hillsborough was incredible, I helped organise 2 from Salisbury.
Worse thing was coming back police wouldn’t let the coaches stop at any pubs on way back, although we eventually managed to escape the escort and found a pub in between Oxford and Newbury |  | | |

I remember the game very well. It was 10,000 Saints , all of the Leppings Lane end, top and bottom. It was also the first live Sunday Fa cup game ever. Never seen so many coaches, and a Police escort all the way from South Yorkshire to Hampshire. Ffs!
