Don't understand the comment that an Assistant Manager won't be able to manage the team if he's promoted. People get promoted all the time and have to make a jump to manage staff who were their previously their equals. What makes football any different? Also Selles is 40 so he's being asked to manage younger players but he has a wealth experience in different football jobs which is an advantage over footballers who have only just played football in their relatively young lives. He may make a great manager. In the same way that Jones may have been a huge success in the PL. Trouble is, with Saints in their current predicament, it represents a bigger risk than appointing somebody with experience. Not sure we've got a lot of choice though. | |

Where do things stand in terms of assistants to him at the moment. All Jone's coaching staff left with him, didn't they?
As for the lack of a new manager bounce. I would have thought that seeing the back of Jones would be bounce enough in itself.
We all found him infuriating and difficult to understand. I can't see it being any different for the players. | |

He came in in the summer to help improve things .
He’s not done that so far.
Having said that no manager/ coach is going to save us so might as well save some money and let him carry on untill the summer.
Then next season appoint some one who can stop the rot and work with a limited budget to Hope get a top 10 finish in the championship. We might even slip into the playoffs if the owners and borad finally get something right . | | | |
