How else do you think we should pay for the debts for last year's mad spending (£160m on fees alone) It's sell or have a repeat performance of going into admin. Which would you prefer? The lunacy was the spending of last year. What is being done now we have no choice but to do.

Which would I prefer....to be honest, I got to the stage where I don't really give a fook. 'We' this, 'we' that, 'we have no choice' - it's not us, it's them. Let's hope Russell Martin can get some results with the players he'll be left with if they're just selling them off to pay for the debts.

Ron, cheer up a bit, that said, I know how you are feeling. Don’t take too much notice of SF73, he bangs on and on and on about us being in £160m of debt on player fees. Well, yes we are, but equally, no we are not. There is a big difference between being £160 in debt and having £160m of debt. I will explain; I agree with SF73 that some of the deals we did in the previous 2 windows were nuts, especially in January. If as he states the total fees were £160m that does not mean we have paid even half of that out yet as these deals are often structured over several instalments paid over 2,3 or 4 years. We will never show the whole debt in any one set of accounts as in old terminology the players are being purchased on HP. The trick is to maximise profitability on the assets as with Lavia & JWP and then going forward do the same again and you never cave in to debt. I hate Moneyball with a passion as it robs us of our gems time after time after time and at times is gut wrenching for the supporters who see much loved players go on to play elsewhere. I think one problem we have is that we have SR lurking in the background wanting their slice of the profits cake. They will want ROI on the assets their investment money purchased in addition to servicing the actual debt. To me, this could be the difference between like for like replacements in key positions and mend and make do signings. Our new CEO touched on this at the forum the other night when he described player transactions as a balancing act - very true. I am getting a tad concerned tbh but will reserve judgement until Sept 1st at 23.30. Hopefully no more last day lunacy as SF73 rightly referred to otherwise we have learned nothing and everything said at the forum will have been hot air. Still glass half full but only just…

what worries me is the lunacy of last year is still in the hands of the same people this year we are clearly in for a few seasons in then championship as it looks like we will have a team of very average somewhat experienced players and inexperienced youngsters coupled with an average manager dear oh dear

Ballard has just scored his second hat trick in 2 consecutive games yet doesn’t feature in our first team squads.😡

If we'd had Ballard in the team last season we might have done a bit better. To think that Mara and Tall Paul kept him out of the squad is ridiculous.

Tall Paul hardly 'kept him out of the squad' he only played 11 times and quite a few of them were off the bench. Ballard should be playing but as of last season our big problem is off the pitch not on it.

His problem is he's not from the Man City academy.

He obviously has good instincts . I saw one of his hatriicks on Facebook . It wasn’t high quality. But he must be worth a shot off the bench when we need a goal

I think 'good instincts' is a key phrase here. Steve Moran rarely scored spectacular goals, nor did Billy Sharp, but they had an incredible ability to be in the right place at the right time, something our recent attacking signings sadly appear to lack. Ballard has formed a really good partnership with Tyler Dibbling so I'd like to see both given a go. Although Ballard & Dibling does sound like a firm of home counties estate agents.
