Give credit where credit is due and criticise when I feel it is right. But Again Sport Republic take the cheap way. All the best Tonda Eckert.

Seconded. He has more about him than Will Still. I sense that he is more intense, more serious, more determined and focused and he has done a good job. But it's another huge risk and with his lack of experience, things could end in tears. He has a contract for the rest of this season and next. That could be a mistake if we don't end this season in a good way. [Post edited 5 Dec 22:12]

However it wouldn’t surprise me if the players down tools having proven how bad Will Still was . What happens if we lose to Birmingham and WBA and all of a sudden on a losing run?

I have a good feeling about Tonda despite his tender years. Will Still felt like an imposter, Eckert doesn't.. Tonda can get a tune out of a demoralised team, seems calm and considered. Best of luck to the young man. We just might have a nugget.

| Tonda confirmed as Head Coach. on 10:58 - Dec 6 with 604 views | dirk_doone | "Derby County had been rooted in the Second Division for a decade before Clough's arrival, and had been outside the top flight for a further five years, their only major trophy being the FA Cup in 1946. In Clough's first season, the club finished one place lower than in the previous season, but he had started to lay the foundations for his future success by signing several new players, among them Roy McFarland, John O'Hare, John McGovern, Alan Hinton and Les Green. Of the inherited squad, 11 players departed and only four were retained: Kevin Hector, Alan Durban, Ron Webster and Colin Boulton. Clough also sacked the club secretary, the groundsman and the chief scout, along with two tea ladies he caught laughing after a Derby defeat. With the additional signings of Dave Mackay and Willie Carlin in 1968–69, Clough and Taylor's management led Derby to become champions of the Second Division, establishing the club record of 22 matches without defeat on the way and the team was promoted to the First Division for the 1969–70 season." I don't think he'd have made it past that first season here. Of course, a big difference nowadays, is the lack of control managers have over transfers. As for sacking the tea ladies for laughing, the only person we've ever had here who was that ruthless was Cortese. I'm hoping that Eckert is our Clough and early signs are good. Think positive. What happens if we win both those games, I'm sure we will then start to believe in Tonda. Let's not write him off, he can only work with what he's got but I personally have good vibes about him, you get lucky managers & I think he's one of them. | | | |

I guess I get the concerns about his age and relative inexperience, but you can't argue with 5 wins out of 6 and having turned us from basket cases to winners. I'm delighted he's been given the job permanently.

That was a great performance today, particularly in the first half. Full credit to Eckert. Despite having concerns about his age and inexperience, he has been absolutely brilliant. We actually play forward with speed. Can you believe it?! We actually attack and try to score! He is also highly intelligent, like a professor. Long may it continue. Ultimately, Will Still was the problem. We have a fantastic squad, with talented players. [Post edited 6 Dec 19:02]

It appears your right. Will Still was the issue. What the players needed was someone to give them some confidence back after last season and now they have it and that makes aworld of difference. I think it's about 50% confidence, 50% actually playing the right ball forwards. The midfield is now linked to the front 3 and we are creating 3 or 4 times the amount of chances a game than we were under Still.

Yep, and just to add to that - Azaz, Fellows, Sciensa, Jander, Armstrong, Flynn Downes are a frightening set of talented players, who attack with pace and score goals. Will Still didn't play them all!! He kept swapping them and messing about with the team. He was unbelievably bad as a manager. It's fantastic to see players like Fellows and Azaz, turn on a sixpence instead of passing backwards, they run forward with speed. Even Bazunu is good under this manager!

Fully agree with this Stills use and lack, of Azaz and Fellows was criminal I will be interested to see how Jelert works out now too, he looked handy then apparently still didn’t fancy him and he was leaving? Maybe not anymore

| Tonda confirmed as Head Coach. on 21:03 - Dec 6 with 131 views | HytheFerrytales | To make our new coach feel welcome it might be polite if singers introduce some German into their repertoire. For a basic starter maybe " Tonda Eckerts Rot-Weisse Armee " I then got carried away and Google translated an old early 70's favorite we used at the Milton Rd End to predict how the day would end for the away contingent. Du fahrst mit einem verdammten Krankenwagen nach Hause!! Translation.. You're going home in a fookin' ambulance !! Good luck with that one, singers. Today's win seemed somehow very important because nobody wanted the anti climax of a defeat after the week's build up. Happy days | | | |
