Why Is There So Much Hate On Saints Social Media 22:59 - Dec 15 with 1082 viewsSaintNick

All across the internet, all I seem to read his hate, many people seem to either love players or hate them there is no inbetween,, Tonda Eckert is either the future of SFC or he has already shown that he is clueless **** despite winning 6 out of his 8 games.

All this frothing at the mouth isn't good for the health.

Because you have to fight your corner or people, corporations, your football club, bossess whoever, will take the.p!ss. Have you ever read Sir Alex Fergerson's autobiography? He didn't win 38 trophies without ever "frothing at the mouth". His aggression, determination, stop at nothing made him one of the best managers ever. Probably not good for the health, you're right, but winning 39 trophies must have been good for the mental health. And you can apply this to life. You can choose to be in with the sheep or out with the wolves showing their teeth. Who wants to be in with the sheep getting eaten and trampled on?

Like the corporates and sponsors taking our seats, accept it calmly if you like, but just wait until they take acceptance as fans don't care, so we will give more and more seats to those who pay the most. Why not get more money, none of the fans are frothing at the mouth. Perhaps our clib should show more respect to their supporters, but as I said if we put up with it, if you are in with the sheep, the lack.of respect gets worse.

And Saints social media? Just have a look at some of the Newcastle forums, and tell us how they feel about their player scoring an own goal to lose them the northern east derby.

And in your match report which was spot on by the way, you said the team was lacking in urgency. Absolutely spot on. Perhaps a bit more "frothing at the mouth" was needed instead of calmly losing the game? Good for the players health to take ot easy, but not good for ours.

Nick, I can’t comment about other internet sites because I don’t read or contribute to any of them.

I restrict my interest to your site and do so because one of the attractions is that although contributors sometimes have widely differing views on The Saints and a variety of other subjects, there is very little bad mouthing.

In reference to football in particular. All that the various sites have achieved is to allow people to do is express their opinions in public where as pre internet the same opinions were being expressed in pubs and clubs.Probably with liberal use of the bad language to which you suggest.

Should your site ever become infested with genuine hate as you put it, I suspect that I won’t be alone in disconnecting my interest.

Much like the majority of absolutely mind numbing rubbish on T V, power still remains with the user.

If you don’t like it turn it off.

Well said SaintMark!, I like you, don't contribute to other saints sites, although occasional pop in for look around. There a very few people on here I have on ignore, mainly because their opinions bore me. There are a number on TUI who's thoughts and comments I find enlightening and insightful and others just make me laugh, ether with them or at them. I am happy to "call out" what I perceive to be bad refereeing decisions (strangely, always against us) and players who have a bad game or make a catastrophic mistake, however, I don't believe in personal attack or that any of those incidents are done deliberately or with malice. FFS we all have "a bad day at the office" every now and then even if we earn tens of thousands a week, which I don't.

People have always been angry, but nowadays with social media it's so easy to spout out all that anger and hatred. In my day, if you wanted to moan about something you literally had to pick up a pen, write a letter, buy a stamp, go to the postbox and post it. By the time you'd done all that you'd generally forgotten what you were angry about. I mean, how many of those on here who post message after message about certain players would actually go to the trouble of writing a letter to the Echo or the club about it? It would cost Saint22 a fortune in stamps.

It's football in a nutshell.

Who actually enjoys watching the games?

We are generally nervous wrecks in the ground, angry and snarling, with very little positivity around.

Or maybe it's just me......

I have no problem with people frothing at the mouth, when it merits it, but when I see Tonda Eckert getting abuse for losing a game after winning 6 out of the last 7, I think the frothing goes too far.

Yes Alex Ferguson liked a good froth, but he also knew when to do it, if he had done it for every goal conceded and every game lost, then firstly he knew he would probably have a heart attack and secondly he knew it would just reduce down it's effectiveness over a period of time.

You are right you have to fight your corner, but frothing at the mouth is not fighting your corner, it is just ranting, from experience I know that those who run football clubs are not concerned when people are ranting on the internet all over the place, as they know it just blurs the situation and they can easily dismiss it as just ranting from people whose opinion changes with the wind and that those ranting will soon turn around with a few wins, this is not particularly my opinion, but I know that is how those running football clubs think.

What does worry them is organisation, when fans get organised and form supporters associations and have organised protests then they start to take notice, the head of P & O Cruises our main sponsor, probably doesn't read saints social media such as this site or others, he will be wined and dined and will be schmoozed by our CEO who will tell him how everything is fine and all Saints supporters are currently looking at booking cruises.

But if there were 20 Saints fans with a big banner stood by the Ted Bates Statue he would see that and take notice, he would be fobbed off about a small group of idiots, but if the following week there were 100 and then 200 and then 1,000, he would start to be concerned about his brand image and so would other sponsors.

I agree that people shouldn't be going over the top at Tonda in particular at this time, after a great run of results. I haven't seen that but Tonda unfortunately has a similar problem to Still. His inexperience is at the back of people's minds, and I think people are expecting it all to go wrong, mainly because their faith in Sport Republic is zero.

After the second half performance against WBA and then Norwich, people just think honeymoon period over, Tonda has been found out by experienced championship managers and here we go again, more disappointment because that's all we have known in the last few years. The fanbase is still in a sensitive spot, and this club needs some success, namely promotion back to the PL and stay there. Fans are frustrated. We get close to the promotion places then lose, and because we are chasing, you can't afford to lose many. 4 points again now from 6th and all because the players lacked urgency (again!).

People need somewhere to vent their frustrations but it's true as you say that organisation is what they worry about, like the significant chants at the Preston game resulting in big changes afterwards. I would argue that the mood on social media can then lead to what happens inside the stadium at times, so it's not completely pointless. Sport Republic arn't popular, I can see why. They don't ever give free travel to away games like Stoke do. They only give interviews after a few wins. They do everything to gain money for themselves. They empty seats at away games for corporates. They don't care about the fans and people feel that. I watched the Strachan interview on early doors. What a great personality he was and how.we could do with someone like that to unite the fans.

I also agree that when the team is giving its all, get down to St Mary's and support the team, not leave early and stop sitting there in silence like some do. But again, the malaise is still there. This club needs to be promoted back to the PL and to start seeing why Sport Republic took took this.club over, other than just making money for themselves.

Hopefully we beat Coventry, who are top.of the league, which would go.some way to restoring the faith.

You’re right, it’s not just football, it’s life now with many going through life disgruntled, privileged and expectant, wanting everything their own way and their own terms and not giving a flying phuck about others.

Football fans at the highest level have become customers, consumers. And when they don’t get the standard that they expect/demand/feel entitled to, act like petulant kids. You only have to look at how Man United and Liverpool fan react a defeat online. It’s embarrassing. Proper first world problems and look at me, look at me cry arsing. They haven’t got a clue.

Did you see the recent vid doing the rounds of a so called Arsenal fan? He was dripping like a septic tank about cannon fodder type teams going to Highbury and shutting up shop to try and get a result. Was saying that the PL should reduce the number of teams etc. etc.

Unfortunately it's not just you.

How many on here are confident of a win on Saturday? I def was last Saturday against the Canaries and look what happened during that 2nd half as well as against the Baggies, and it's been like that for the last few years. The first half will probably be a belter but depending on who scores first, and there will be goals, the atmosphere at SMS will be one of two extremes

I just really hope Tonda will take note of what has happened in those two games, or even the players themselves, they are the ones on the pitch, and show a continual positivity which will then rub off on the fans rather than the nail biting and whinging we have ot used to having
