RIP Chris Rea 17:08 - Dec 22 with 367 views1885_SFC

passed away aged 74 after a short illness. I know everyone, especially at this time of year, is hearing 'Driving Home For Christmas' - but I always loved this song of his. Reminds me of hot Summer days & warm nights somewhere abroad on holiday, just chilling out, drinking a cold beer beside the Mediterranean or Aegean Sea and no cares in the world.

RIP Chris Rea - and thanks for the memories sir.

Absolutely RIP. Loved all his music as well as the obvious Christmas song, but Road to Hell pt 1 (not often played in full) has to be a highlight.
Had tickets to go and see him a few years go, but concert got cancelled just 4 hrs prior due to him being taken off stage the night before due to illness but he never was exactly full of health
Again, 74 is not an old age nowadays

Poll: Are you renewing your season ticket

My Mum and Dad saw him live a few times.

The Road to Hell was a brilliant tune.

He seemed utterly unbothered about the trappings of fame and all the nonsense that went with it.

Poll: Would you take going down to League 1 if it meant new owners coming in?

He was a massive petrol head..mate of mine used to race sports cars with him 30 years ago...top bloke by all accounts.

Por sod was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer many years ago and when they removed it he immediately developed Type 1 diabetes. Also had surgery to remove bits of his stomach and small intestine. Survived a massive stroke 10 years ago...TBH sounds like he did well to get as far as he did.
