| Bolton Play Boro Tonight on 11:14 - Oct 23 with 1392 views | 1885_SFC | I thought the same last weekend when Boro dropped 2 points at home to Cardiff in the early kick-off. We did exactly the same later in the day by failing to beat Bolton. What a signing Will Lankshear has turned out to be for Boro. Up front is where Saints's season will be defined this time around. Goals win games as they say - and we seem to be struggling in that department lately... and January is still a long way off. | |

| Bolton Play Boro Tonight on 21:12 - Oct 23 with 1096 views | Southamptonfan | It is so tough to chase. 8 points behind Boro now, Swansea and obviously West Ham to play tomorrow. We need a victory tomorrow to even get within 5 points. Still time to go in this one but Boro looking comfortable. They invested in a proper striker and this will probabaly make the difference in.the end. [Post edited 23 Oct 21:30]

You have to consider the fact that we were docked 4 points. Had we not been, we would only be 4 points behind top of the table Boro tonight, so it's not all that bad. I'd be very happy with a point away at West Ham tomorrow if I'm honest - especially as it looks as though we'll be without a couple of key players. That Lankshear is something else at this level btw. Another 2 goals tonight. Pretty sure he'll be the division's top scorer this season... unless Dobbin comes good ;-) [Post edited 23 Oct 22:22]

But we were docked 4 points, so if we want to go up to avoid financial issues next season without parachute payments and a 3rd year in the championship, we need to make those points.up. Another draw tomorrow, and it gets harder and harder.to make.up those points. It will be very difficult when our rivals have invested in proven strikers. With Lankshear up front in our team, had we invested, we likely beat Bolton at home, Lincoln away etc. It will make the difference for Boro having invested in an effective goal scorer who will win them games. I suspect we will just come up short because Bowen,.Lankshear, Piroe, Stewart, Vipotnik will give those teams the edge. We could do with a big result and win tomorrow. [Post edited 23 Oct 23:02]

I think we could do with it to be honest if we are serious contenders for top 2.

As has been said before BIG error missing out on him and once AGAIN we are missing that srtrikwr who makes a difference especially as we now rely on Larin so much

I have not seen anything thus far to suggest Dobbin is an improvement on Archer. Arguably, maybe not even at Archer level. Hopefully I will be proved wrong but it needs to start happening now really.

Spot on Southamptonfan. It’s the Southampton way unfortunately, never paying for the final piece of the jigsaw and it’s why we have only won a single major trophy since 1885. And before people start giving me stick, I’m not a Skate and my first Saints game was during the 1959/60 season.

| Bolton Play Boro Tonight on 12:13 - Oct 24 with 367 views | SonicBoom | We don't seem to have had a robust striker since Beattie. There a time that a target man centre forward was the toughest guy on the pitch along with centre halves. Stewart was made of glass and every second on the pitch seemed like a risk. Larin is not much better. Hes had a bad back and now a hamstring yet even when fit he never completes 90 minutes. He even has his hand permanently strapped, does this man never heal? I don't dislike him, hes decent when hes fit and firing, but its frustrating we are always trying to work around fragile strikers. It makes the whole team inconsistent. As someone else said, I fear we'll come up short due to our lack of goals. | | | |

More likely you'll be disappointed If we can get a draw that would be a very good result With regards to Lankshear there seems to be a lot of assumption that we should just sign a player An uncomfortable truth may be that he turned us down as he saw Boro as a better chance of getting promotion this season

Good points, but right now I'd settle for a comfortable 3-1 win! Oh, wait a minute - well it is at the moment but as they say, a long way to go yet
