| Watford Game Matchday Thread on 17:04 - Oct 30 with 1264 views | Sadoldgit | Well we made hard work of that. Should have won the game comfortably in the first half and would have done with better finishing. A nervy end and a terrific save from McCarthy. Still three points is the only thing that mattered from this match and we have them. | | | |
| Watford Game Matchday Thread on 17:06 - Oct 30 with 1250 views | Centurion | A very important point. I still think we are nervy on the field and I am sure that is due to our league position. It will 'click' for our strikers and we can then become a decent team. Good win...feel pleased for Ralph | | | |
| Watford Game Matchday Thread on 17:10 - Oct 30 with 1230 views | City_boy | Good result, but nervy last 10. We were very wasteful in front of goal today, with some poor misses. Adams did well, but looked knackered, 20 mins from the end. We do seem to struggle the longer games go on. Mccarthy had a good game, but you are just waiting for a mistake with his distribution and kicking. Ward-Prowse was average and I wasn't surprised to see him replaced. It might give him the nudge that he needs before he starts getting too complacent thinking he is shoe in for every game. Walker-Peters did well on the left, and probably enough to stay there for next game. | | | |
| Watford Game Matchday Thread on 17:14 - Oct 30 with 1197 views | Bicester_North | Great 3 points in a match where I thought we’d take a draw beating in mind Watford doing what they did last week with a new boss. Both full backs excellent, everyone put a shift in, defence and Romeu/JWP pretty solid. | |

He did Make a great save at the end BUT yet again he got beaten at the near post from an impossible angle that publicly KWP cleared up
| Watford Game Matchday Thread on 17:48 - Oct 30 with 1064 views | Saintsforeverj | Chatting to the Watford fans after the game, they were hugely impressed with the organisation of the Saints team. Had we been more clinical, we would have won by a hatful. McCarthy was superb and this is why it isn't clear cut which gk should play. Ralph got the tactics spot on, the fans were superb and still time for the Ralph out brigade to realise we have a decent manager in charge. [Post edited 30 Oct 2021 17:49]

We looked a good side today and if we hadn't won it would have been a travesty. As others have said our finishing was woeful, like last week we missed at least 2 complete sitters. Overall though great to be winning away again.

Played very well. He provides a little more attacking threat than Perraud but the whole team really battled and they weren't to be beaten today. It was an excellent and professional away performance.

And for you to say that about McCarthy Dirk must be something as you've not been his greatest fan of late He definitely saved the day for us with that save at the end

Would like to see West Ham win at Villa tomorrow so that we're above the Brummies when we meet on Friday night. A long way to go in the season yet... but doesn't appear that Ings's move was that huge step up that he'd hoped for. Coont.

Got a bad feeling about Friday, would be typical Saints if he scores a winner for them. But the optimistic side says Salisu will strangle the life out of the duplicitous scrote.

| Watford Game Matchday Thread on 20:27 - Oct 30 with 660 views | ElijahK | Well at least these last few results will help to shut up those Ralph out lot, as we should’ve won by more, but the tactics, starting 11 and subs were all pretty spot on for Ralph on the day! Most people agreed that we expected at least 5 or 6 points from our games over October and well he’s got more than that. COYS! | |

Spot on with the goalie analysis there, as McCarthy may have made one poor mistake at the start (which thankfully KWP cleared up for him on), but other than that he was great, had decent distribution and pulled off a world class save! But like I said yesterday, I also thought Forster was great on Tuesday, so as much as McCarthy is better, Forster certainly isn’t as poor as he used to be.

You're right. Along with you I have stuck in there with supporting Ralph. It's still early days and today was a great performance. Had we had a 50 million pound striker up front, we would have won by a hatful. I said before today and will say again, Ralph is doing a very good job. The team is giving their absolute all, we are playing ever so well, despite losing our best striker and spending nothing, net. I don't think people realise that it doesn't get much better than this unless we spend millions. It could however be a lot worse. Ralph came over in unison with all his players at the end. Great to see. Love his passion. [Post edited 30 Oct 2021 20:37]

A win against Villa would be great. It might even push us into the top 10. They have a tough game against West Ham tomorrow, which gives them a day less to recover from injuries and prepare for Friday's game. Ignoring Ings will be a lot more effective than booing him; unfortunately I know some of our fans will, which will only motivate him more. Personally, I bear no grudges against him. He was good for us, then he moved to what he thought would be a more successful club this season and it looks like he was wrong. A win is all we need to make him regret that move. It could be that Fosters form is helping to improve McCarthy's.
