| Ukraine V Russia Matchday Thread on 10:28 - Mar 1 by JaySaint | If Ukraine had nuclear missiles, they would not be in the situation. I would also say nukes are probably why we are not even enforcing a no- fly zone, let alone sending Russia home by force [Post edited 1 Mar 2022 10:29]

If Ukraine had nukes how do you know that it wouldn’t already be nuked? It would never have the capacity Russia has. As for the no fly zone, it has not been informed because we are afraid of escalating the situation, so again, what is the point of us having nukes?

In a nutshell, the point of having nukes is so that Putin won't use his.

We should also target Russians with their kids at public schools - there are many of them and the public schools are effectively money laundering for them.

Russia have today insisted that all nuclear weapons on European soil should be 'sent back to America'. I've no doubt that you agree with that?

I don’t agree with nuclear weapons wherever they are but clearly the whole point of NATO is that it defends its member nations. It’s just a shame that we are all spending trillions on weapons that will never be used.

If I knew that don’t you think that I wouldn’t be writing this? If you don’t think the situation is crazy, explain how one minute the PM is telling the Ukraines that we can’t give them military help whilst at the same time the Foreign Secretary was saying it is ok for us who aren’t in the forces to go and fight against the Russians. 🤔

You have spent more time and effort criticising the West than the Russians . If you were a Labour MP I am sure you would of had a letter from Sir Kier by now telling you too STFU !

Really? You clearly haven’t read all of my posts then have you but there is nothing I can do about Russia but I am a part of the democratic system here and have a say in what my democratically elected government does. Pretty much everyone criticised the government for its feeble initial response not just me. Other than that, what have I said that upsets you so much? Did you bother to read the articles against MAD? Again there are plenty of people who see expenditure on nuclear arms as pointless and ineffective. The trouble with you right wingers is that you can’t deal with a different point of view and paint anyone who doesn’t agree with you as an enemy of the nation. Unfortunately this is the end result of toxic nationalism. I have called out Putin from the beginning. I would like us as a nation to do more. What that is I can’t say but allowing him to get away with annexing the Crimea obviously wasn’t brilliant so standing up to further aggression and expansionism with more than token sanctions would be good. Obviously us on our own makes no difference so joint , strong actions with the EU would help. This ultimately comes down to the inherent weakness with the UN. The organisation needs greater powers and should get rid of the veto, bringing in majority decisions so that aggressors and their buddies can’t block action against them.

I have to say that it is quite absurd to me, that the west is "allowing" Russia to kill children and innocents and is not helping militarily to push them back. We know this is a terrible act, yet we are leaving the Ukrainians to it, leaving kids to die, and leaving a country at the mercy of a lunatic. I can understand why ofcourse. We are scared of the repercussions and a world war. But what is the plan, what are the alternative outcomes? A) Putin fails in his attempt to take over Ukraine and will have to nuke them to win. He won't ever give in and accept he couldn't beat them. So he would have to then nuke them right? B) Putin succeeds but won't be able to run the country as there will be continued resistance, sanctions, disgust and noone will deal with him, so he gets frustrated and nukes them and other countries to save face. Or he gains confidence from winning, so goes for more countries, starting a world war anyway. C) Russian people rise up, Putin saves face by nuking the world. So I can't see a way out anyway. We are heading for a world war anyway. The only way out would be to assassinate Putin. Any other options?

I am not defending Putin in any way here but there have been countless wars round the world where civilians have been bombed in huge numbers, many at the hands of nuke armed countries such as Russia, the US, Israel and even the UK. Other nuke armed countries have never fought them directly as they knew what would happen. Even with a nutter like him there has to be some belief that all out nuclear war can be averted, otherwise we may as well all do ourselves in now. [Post edited 1 Mar 2022 17:19]

The objective for this week will be to bombard cities into submission starting by Thursday...they will continue their essential strategy of securing nuclear power plants..nuclear waste disposal/containment sites and obviously securing a ring around Chernobyl...then there will be assertions by the Kremlin that after heavy fighting by the Ukrainians they have hit these sites and have made these sites radioactive areas...no need to nuke when you can meltdown operational and defunct sites..that will leave millions of hectares unusable for centuries and also if the weather is favourable spread nuclear dust and debris floating across the west of Europe.. He needs exterminating along side Lukashenko... The oligarchs being targeted seem to think Putin will be victorious and won't raise any concerns about his mental stavmbility..they need to be assassinated too.. The baltic Sea at the Denmark/Swedish straight needs to be impassable by surface and submersible craft now..nothing in nothing out!! The tag Pariah state needs confirming and broadcasting around the globe. But in all honesty it needs one good Russian to double tap the mad coont in public...thats the simplest of all scenarios.

Feeble initial response to what? Don't say Ukraine, as we have been leaders on that front, since 2015. Do you remember when parts of the EU closed their airspace as were were shipping supplies to them, just a month or so ago? Doing more as you suggest = tacking military action. Brilliant [Post edited 1 Mar 2022 17:50]

Also, many of their nukes were previously Ukraine's. Pretty ironic that Ukraine gave them up on the basis of security assurances from Russia, US and UK in the early 1990s. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/

Feeble response to the invasion. It has been building for weeks so it wasn’t exactly a surprise was it. Doing more doesn’t necessarily mean taking military action. The initial sanctions were pathetic.
