Saints V Chelsea Matchday Thread on 15:53 - Apr 9 by A1079 | Do you think that any good player worth his salt is going to come to Southampton with annual results and violent swings in results like this? Even if it was remotely possible, do you think the likes of Broja etc would choose to stay with us? The second half is all important to see whether there is any fight in the team at all or whether they simply don't care. |
Even forster won't stay. Could have been more. Even he is pissed off with the defence

I think they'll go for a Premier league record ...mount will be gagging for it

They are all on the beach. Nobody is getting stuck in. Salisu is having a mare Bottled clearing it with his right foot, gave it away, they crossed and headed into the bar Later after he won the ball, he tried to take 2 Chelsea players on, lost the ball, feigned a foul and they scored. Much easier to get rid. Adam Arm was telling him to hoof it clear FFS. Valery was pushing Salisu, trying to get him going, after he was playing statues for a Chelsea corner that he nearly deflected into his own net but got rescued by FF. He is awful since he got injured It will probably be a piss poor attempt at damage limitation in the 2nd half. The fans have stopped singing and don't even give Mount much grief !! Some left at 3 and 4-0. Expect the same next week v Arsenal.

New manager would negate that spectre for any new arrivals.

Will they get anymore than 36 points? Second half tactical masterclass coming up from Hassenhutl, running in 4-5 winners :-)

Saints V Chelsea Matchday Thread on 16:12 - Apr 9 with 824 views | A1079 | Something changed on that night against West Ham in the cup. We were poor that night but got away with it. It didn't even feel right that night and you could sense something was not good. It has been a rapid fall away in performances since (slight improvement away to Leeds though they must now be wondering how they did not beat us).

If we keep it down to 6 he might stay. However, speculation that something awful has happened behind the scenes.

Hope you’re right. Once with an early red card is terrible, twice with an early red card is disgusting. This one with no key injuries and 11 men is unsurvivable

I wish I knew Centurion because I am trying to even explain to myself how we can go on a good run and put in good performances against Man City and Spurs away etc and then go on chronic collapses like this. What is the psyche in the manager and the team that creates this violent polarisation in performances and results. My gut instinct and it is no more than a gut instinct is that Ralph pi**ed the players off on that cup game. Dropping players that were in form as if the game was not important and perhaps sending a message to players that we are merely about safety and no more. If you are playing well, you must wonder why you are dropped. Look at Perraud as an example. But, then you wonder what is the mindset of the players playing because they are experienced players so why (even if Ralph is bewildering them with his choices) do they stop doing the basics because they should not need to be told. Where is their own mental strength and character. There are so many questions and I am clutching at straws and really know bu**er all but it is all bewildering but all I know is, that as a fan, I can't accept this any more. Losing like this should never be an option.

The thing is, that whatever Ralph decided for the Cup game it is poor if the players decide to down tools with Ralph. Perhaps Ralph has less hold on the players than you might expect. Worrying .
