Are we going to go yet another window without signing a decent striker?

In 2019/20 season Ings scored 22 goals for us in 38 games. Since he left our recruitment in that position has been awful.

In the last four seasons our strikers ie Che Adams, Broja, Adam Armstrong and Mara have a combined strike rate of 1 league goal every 6.2 games. They have scored only 33 goals between them

Yet even now we’re going for strikers with appalling records.

Mara had a strike record of 7 goals in 34 games for Bordeaux so no surprise he can’t score

We were after Nicolas Jackson who had a record of 3 goals in 43 league appearances for Villareal and thank god for Bournemouth

We’re now apparently after Bamba Dieng who has scored 8 goals in 44 games for Marseille but never mind he’ll only cost £13m.

We have six days to rectify this situation or we're down

Players in lower teams that want a career move with a pay increase especially those that think the Premier is the best in their world

Time is running out. Chuba Akpom, 29 years old, strong physical forward player has scored 14 goals for Middlesbrough this season. They would probably want 20 million plus and he doesn't have a sell.on value so they won't do it. He might not make the step up, but he has the experience and attributes and goals to do it. There are players available but the club won't do it, hence the other thread and why we all moan and groan about the club.

You mean like Adams and Armstrong?

We surely won't make the same mistake again. Better not!

Clubs also know we are desperate so chances are we'll have to overpay to get someone half decent, which we won't do, so we'll end up with either a.) young, unproven, sell-on potential b.) championship c.) no one at all (my money is on c)

and add up the cost of money we have wasted on all our signings in recent years when one solid expensive signing would have achieved so much more
this club wont ever learn and just wont ever compete at this level anymore

I like the look of Paul Onuachu, 14 goals in 18, albeit in the Belgium league but still. 6 foot 6 colossus

Those stats seem good. We just have to get someone in like that and hope.

Hey Grumps, hope you’re well
Agree, who would want to join especially as we always seem to make a derisory opening bid

I'll be amazed if we don't sign a striker.

The stats about Adams, Armstrong and Mara speak for themselves.

The only issue is whether we'll sign another Carillo.

Good to hear from you again,Matt. What is going on at our club? If we don’t sign a decent striker I can’t see us surviving.

Of those strikers we could afford who would be prepared to come here, Cho Gue-sung is definitely worth considering. Koreans are very undervalued but have a good record here.
