Wake up today to the news the Jones boy has gone. Imagine my disappointment!

Talksport understand he's been given more time, lets hope it's no longer than 3pm today

If they do that it’s game over. What’s the point if he gets anything from the Wolves game, which I doubt, he’s lost the fans.

In truth, I fear the game is already up and galvanizing this squad to get the necessary points to stay up seems very unlikely. I suspect it's now a case of sticking with Jones until relegation is confirmed with about ten games left and then start planning the fire sale and the championship squad. Sorry to be so downbeat although after 55 years of supporting Saints I tend to concentrate on enjoying each match and I suspect I'll have more enjoyable weekends next year in the championship.

Jones was 3/1 last night to be the next PL manager to be sacked,
well odds on today around 1/3, bookies don't get a lot wrong tbh.

Give them time they have to get a plan B sorted first

Plan B? We're already on Plan Z FFS!

One can only hope the stay of execution is because the board are talking to his replacement because pl football is more lucrative than going down.

Hughes' record was worse than Pellegrino's. It was a bit like the Ralph and Jones situation. But, we were not in the bottom 3 when Hughes took over and we stayed in the same position from Pellegrino's last game until the end of the season.

Hughes was almost as bad as Jones.

I think you are being a bit harsh on Hughes. We were 100 % going down if we hadn't replaced Mr Bean. Hughes instilled a bit more fight and direction to the team and was unlucky to lose 2 - 3 to Chelsea and Arsenal in consecutive games. A few games later denied a win at Everton when Berty inexplicably didn't put the ball in row z and Everton equalised in the 7th min of 5 mins injury time!
But the leadership he showed at all the underhand pre game tactics at Swansea will stay with me forever. Hotel cancellation, no police escort from Cardiff thru rush traffic and then the coach driver told to go around the block a few times as the Swansea tram coach had just arrived. Up steps Hughsie A proper Welsh Dragon , not an ankle biting little yappy Welsh mutt, and told his players to disembark, get their kit bags and marched up the hill into battle 👍👍👍. From that moment the game eas ours and we stayed up. But, that is where the fairy tale should have ended. He'd done the job asked of him and presumably paid handsomely for it.
Maybe a short till end of season and big pay off if we stay up contract is the way to go at this moment in time?

As you say, we can only hope!

Is this current period worse than the Branfoot days? I think so, but certainly no better

Just tell him to resign immediately for no money or tell him that he'll be allowed to be pelted and abused by the crowd until he does sign. Plus turn the mics up around the dugout! Easy.

I don't envy Jones an appearance at St Mary's on Saturday.

The board are not reading the room.

Well, they've decided to persevere with him. I'm one of Jones's biggest critics but if we beat Wolves, I'll be happy and SR will have been proved right to keep him on for at least another game. Wolves have such a good manager now that you could argue they'd still beat us even with a new manager bounce.

Yes, but it wouldn't be anywhere near as toxic.

The players have to experience the boos and anger just as much as Jones. It can't be doing them any good.
