I must say, it is particularly good commercial acumen by the Club to speed through the appointment of Russell Martin in time for the season ticket renewal details announcement.
Never won promotion. Completely unknown name. Plays possession based, side to side football, instead of the aggressive attacking, forceful football we all want. A young, so far unknown manager to develop and nurture, lacking experience.
Yes, he ticks all the boxes of Saints manager number 4 of Sport Republic. I think we need an experienced, well known name that players and fans will respect and get excited about. But no, we go for the unknown, develop type manager. As I've said before, after we sacked Ralph, nothing will change all the while we have the same owners. But who knows, it could work, but I doubt it.

Tough local derby, familiar wobbly defence and passing out from the back, but Swansea won with passion which we have certainly lacked.
Swansea had the 4th worst defensive record in the Championship this season largely because their stupid passing around at the back gifted the opposition so many goals. The other 3 teams were relegated.
They seem to have no idea how difficult turning things around is going to be, and happy to piss off the fans with another lacklustre managerial appointment.
Is it so difficult to appoint someone with a proven track record? They’ve learned f*ck all from the Jones and Selles appointments. Nothing.

All done bar the paperwork it would seem.
Not sure what to think really
Fvck this for a laugh. Fvck Sports Republic. And fvck off if we get saddled with this tvvat.
Before tax you have to earn what, the best part of a grand, to pay for a season ticket? Factor in the travel and other costs and that’s a significant cash commitment. Then add in the time and disruption and this bunch of assholes obviously think we, as fans, are a bunch of cvnts to put up with this,
I don't know much about this guy or whether he is a real talent in waiting and I may be doing him a big disservice but for some illogical non factually based reason this appointment (if it happens) feels no more right than the one that followed Hassenhuttl.
I hoped, perhaps unreasonably, that we would go for a manager with experience and be in line for Potter or someone similar. May be it was an unreasonable expectation, may be we had no chance of getting someone like that, but if he or someone like Potter signs for one of the other relegated teams then it will add further doubt in the minute bit of confidence I have of Sports Republic to make the right decision.

Giving goals away from passing around at the back is something that really boils my piss.
Teams who give away cheap goals do not get promoted.

"So boring to watch. Just pass the ball along the back all game. Absolute snooze fest "
....until the opposition scores
Even if I saw that Sam Allardyce was going to be the next manager, I'd still be happier than another non appointment like this. When these idiots in charge are down to 15,000 crowds again they might then realise that they should actually listen and not act out the 'we know better than you' scenario.

I called it when Ralph was sacked. The idiots above want possession based, data driven, Southampton way, philosophies, theories, develop talent, turn Mike into Messi, play like Barcelona, play a load of 18 year olds to develop, surveys, burgers from around the world. It was clear to me that these were idiots when they spent 60 million on 8 under 20's in the summer. This lot will destroy this club and the manager choice that everyone has focused on, is not the ultimate issue. The problem is the people at the very top and always has been. They appoint yes man managers who agree with their thoughts. Swansea have the fourth worst defensive record, as they fuss about the back with the ball and lose it. It's another massive mistake.

Call me a naive optimistic fool but I'm going to give this guy the chance to succeed. We have been so damm bad for such a long time, I reckon the culture of defeatism will take a while to be expunged...(great word) I'm expecting a tough start, and then a finish of midtable mediocrity, to be followed by a promotion push the following year...

Was anybody here at Eastleigh when they drew 0-0 with Russell Martin's MK Dons team in the 1st round of the 2020/21 FA Cup ? That appears to be the level we are aiming for now, as Ankersen sets out to prove his theory that we really are smaller than a Turkish second division club.

Burnley can also be found pissing around at the back. The big difference between the sides is pace with Tella's diagonal runs which maybe more difficult to achieve in the Premier.
As with all our managers if Martin comes here he'll get my support.
