| Southampton Accept £60 Million Offer For Romeo Lavia on 14:11 - Aug 14 with 2106 views | City_boy | Don't you just love it that Liverpool are being messed around. They offer low offers, whilst Saints insist on £50m. Now they are going to have to offer £60m+. They could have had this all wrapped up weeks ago, now they look desperate and banked on Lavia insisting on a move to Merseyside, by turning his head. What they didn't bank on was Chelsea getting in on the act. They got away with it, with the VVD and Lovren deals. Not this time. | | | |

I am so enjoying watching Liverpool squirm, after their previous dealings with us.

I’d assume Chelsea will have to match Liverpool’s bid - if as has been reported, now we are at or over the required £50m mark, Saints stance on this is that ultimately the player will choose which one of the two clubs he wants to join. If Lavia chooses Chelsea I would assume they will now match the Liverpool bid to not run the risk of Saints having any second thoughts even though they provisionally accepted £55m. It’s a pity Barcelona are skint otherwise we could sit back and watch all three fight it out. If Lavia does choose Chelsea Klippity will be farting purple sparks!

I'd certainly like to see some money from the transfers reinvested into the team. Most incomings have been free transfers.

It has been known for players to reject a move to a certain club in preference for another. For example, the Brighton player Caicedo has done just that, he rejected a move to Liverpool because he wanted to go to Chelsea so to an extent I suppose they could dictate terms as you cannot force a player to sign a contract - that said, I think this has a lot to do with agents / advisors who will likely steer a player in the direction of the Club that makes the agents the best commission. I would assume if Lavia now chooses Chelsea in preference to Liverpool then Chelsea will at least match the Liverpool offer - going back to Caicedo, Chelsea were negotiating unsuccessfully with Brighton at around the £80/85m mark, Liverpool storm in with £111m but the player doesn’t want the move so Chelsea wrap it up with a bid of £115m so I’d hope the same thing happens here IF Lavia chooses Chelsea. Hope that all makes sense. Would not be happy if we lose £5m if he does go to Chelsea and they don’t match the Liverpool bid.
