Will be glued to the screen for the next few weeks, watching anything and everything. The Olympics are my favourite sporting event ever since I got hooked on the 1972 games.
Arrived in Paris yesterday. Amazing to see so many French people smiling, being polite, and offering service without the Gallic shrug of indifference!
I know Derby is up next week, anyone else visiting? If so, lets reserve tables at the Georges V and push on from there.

Another one finishing second in one of the major olympic events by a tiny margin. Just like the 1500, he ran a PB so couldn't have done much more. One of many near misses these games, not a lot dropping our way.
The Yanks are really starting to piss me off in these games.
Also unless we suddenly get a gold rush in other events, your adopted homeland is looking like it will finish above us in the medal table for the first time in ages and the media will no doubt crow for bloody ages about it.

She gets a PB for the shot putt - by 50cm! The reigning Champion topped that by doing her personal best, which was a lot longer.
200m is the final event later tonight. One of Kat's favourite events. Can't wait for that.

Was in Stade de France for 1st 2 events in heptathlon. KJT did season best in high.jump.but Hall and Thiam both strong.

200m final was a bit special. Bloke ran 19.4 and coasted over the last 10m. Lyles running 19.7 with Covid. Bit odd he was allowed to run at all.
Sign of the times I guess Watford_Ranger if it was 2020 the whole place would have been locked down .He did hug the winner before he needed the wheelchair so that was a bit strange plus he hid it from his teammates according to his interview . He does have asthma so it might be a little more complicated for him but hopefully its not an issue .

I was very fortunate to be at the R7s when M. Dupont stole the show, and the atmos was immense. The support in things like table tennis, handball and the likes, would match the Buenos Aires derby.

With reference to a previous post the BBC has just really excelled itself, sticking the mike in Cindy Sember’s face and asking her “how she feels” after falling in her sem-final of the hurdles. FFS, are these a-holes utterly devoid of empathy and sensitivity?

*edit* didn’t see KJT had already been in the javelin, so yeah, if Thiam doesn’t improve she will start the 800m with an 8 second margin so it would take a PB from KJT + a poor run from Thiam so it’s pretty much done.

Not necessarily. If Thiam doesn't improve her throw she can still make up the gap. Thiam is a poor 800m runner and KJT is good. When KJT won the 2019 Worlds she ran nearly 12 seconds faster than Thiam which equated to 167 points difference.
As I said, it all depends on Thiam not improving her throw but it's not all over although she'll probably have to run close to her PB which she did in Doha in 2019 and also in the 2023 Worlds.
If she doesn't win gold then it'll probably be the Long Jump that will have cost her. At her best she's a 6.9m jumper.

Thiam has consistency across all events and rarely completely underperforms in one like KJT did in the long jump. Very long shot for KJT in the 800m but there’s still a chance.

Probably a bridge too far for KJT to win the 800 by 8 seconds but she will at least medal. Needed more from the long jump to limit the damage Thiam did in the javelin.

Who can forget the gorgeous Jess in 2012, who threw the form book out the window when it came to the 800m and launched from the front and it was game over. KJT has been doing SB/PB's throughout this Olympics - She's gonna do one more and be candidate for SPOTY
