I'd love to know the rationale for keeping him in his job.
Money, money, money. We are down anyway. We go down with Martin and save 30 million or we sack him, pay him off, pay a new manager his 3 year contract at 5 million a year and still.go down. That's the choice.

Save £30 million? Absolute bullsh1t. The club seemingly put out a rumour that it would cost £10m, but Man U said it cost them £10m to sack Ten Haag and he had a 3 year contract. Do we really pay our manager as much as Man U do? No.

How much would it cost to then pay a new manager on a new contract, who wants a three year contract? Ral0h was reportedly on 6 million a year. How much does it cost to sack all of RM's backroom staff as well and bring in the new backroom staff for the new manager, all on big money. What happens if results still don't improve and have to sack the next one? It's all very costly. That's all a potential 30 million altogether.

You have to pay for one manger anyway unless we try not having one at all. The reported cost of £10m is the additional cost we would have to pay as severance for RM and his team.
So, the £10m is the total we have to pay in the worst case scenario (I've said here before that we wouldn't have to pay that much anyway because RM wont want to sit at home for 3 years). But even if we end up paying £10m that is a good investment. If we don't do that we'll just end up buying RM another tippy tappy player for £15-20m in the transfer window.
We are currently heading down the wrong road. We need to change direction and the sooner we recognise that the better.

And that change of direction is to change the owners. If you keep the same owners, who keep buying cr@p, appointing cr@p, saying cr@p, spending money on themselves and new clubs, nothing will change. I have said this since they sacked Ralph. Nothing changed, after he left, we ended up paying off 2 or 3 managers in one season, apart from one good season in the championship, ironically with RM.
And why so many bad signings, so many managerial appointments that haven't worked? Because the owners are sh!t. Basically the fans are too weak, to attempt to remove the owners, so.would rather just keep swapping the managers, by moaning on.social media. Ask Mike Ashley, what power fans can have to remove owners.

I agree that SR have made a pigs ear of things, but that's because of the football decisions they have made, not other issues like money. The problem is not "the owners", the problem is Ankersen who's supposed to be the football expert among them.
I would very gladly see him gone, but it may take some more bad decisions before the others are forced to get rid of him. If that's the case then the sooner they make those decisions, the sooner they see the problem and the sooner we are back on the right road. So, the sooner they sack RM and appoint a new manager (good or bad) either way, the sooner things start to improve at SFC.
Sticking with RM would mean certain relegation, probably as the worst team ever, hoping for another 4th place next year (but actually more teams will have found us out by then so that's optimistic) and gradual decline from there. There's no hope of ever being an established PL side under RM.

Martin must go. Not just because of results but for the fact he puts himself and his failing tactics above everything else. The ‘I will not change’ mantra is blind arrogance and is totally disrespectful to the fans who part with their hard earned money to watch the team week in week out. And remember when we are relegated people at the club will lose their jobs. Martin doesn’t give a shite about them or indeed anything else other than himself. He is a fraud who got away with it in a lower league but has now been found out and is too up his own arse to see it.

Also who the fook agrees these contracts? Surely like most jobs, even more so in football they are performance / results based in which case right now he owes the club money ffs!!
And I am sick to death of Wussell trotting out how well we played, how we keep playing this way because we are progressing weekly Do me a favour pal look at the table, if anything we are getting worse No point blaming injuries and suspensions either, that just illustrated you have non plan B and expect inferior players to produce total football Just GO

He is doing what anyone would do. Not a chance RM gives up on millions of pounds and resigns. He is just going to say "the right things", keep the players onside and wait to be sacked and paid off. He will keep going until he is told otherwise. And because our owners are utter shite, RM has the upper hand and will.just carry.on..

We are screwed .
It should have been all about pragmatism and survival this first season back in the Prem....it's the golden rule for all promoted clubs
Instead it's become a Russell Martin and Ankerson vanity project.
Both need to be removed from our club.

Has there EVER been a manager in the history of the Premier League who has kept his job with such a piss poor record? I’d be amazed if there has, so what makes this dopey moron so special?
The owners are, as I thought they would be, utterly clueless.
I can only assume they’re on this board, as what other clueless gimp would have voted to let Rylan stay?

It’s flabbergasting I seriously cannot see how ANYONE in any role of ownership thinks this is smart
Also how can ANYONE take a club to such depths and think it’s ok
I guess only a narcissist

Impeccable logic Southamptonfan as were your previous posts on this subject.
What amazes me are the number of contributors who still think that replacing Russell Martin will suddenly give us a chance of avoiding relegation, even if we could find another manager daft enough to take the job on. For pity sake, don’t they realise that we only have five points on the board a fortnight or so from Christmas ?
Sports Republic are a proven bunch of total incompetents, but even they aren’t stupid enough to waste up to another £10 million in a reckless attempt to avoid an obviously irretrievable situation.

Any sensible fan would accept that we will be relegated this season irrespective of who the manager is.
What we can’t accept is this throwing away goals week in week out as a direct result of Martins bizarre tactics, his team selections and his direct refusal to accept responsibility and change things.
Let’s go down at least with our heads held high not as a laughing stock managed by an arrogant fraud.

That’s the problem with our Owners and Senior Management Heisenberg.
They are not remotely interested in how we go down to The Championship. To them it’s just a business and what you and I think is to them totally irrelevant.
No passion and no soul plus very little interest in football for any of them.
