Of our managers over the past 15 years Pochettino's tactics were probably the closest to Spors stated preference for the next Saints manager. Very much what Arteta, Slot & Emery do best but this style of play keeps getting mentioned on MOTD this season in connection with other teams as well. Not watched much Championship football this season but I suspect this is a style of play Burnley prefer. Stand to be corrected on that one though... |  |

Ralph played high pressing, high intensity football in the early days of his reign. I interpret that as a high energy, high pressing game, high up the pitch. Rohl plays that style, having done it as assistant with Ralph. [Post edited 8 Apr 21:00]

High intensity is not necessarily the same as high press.
High intensity is putting the opposition under pressure all over the pitch.
High press is all about closing down the opposition in their own half.
High intensity also means winning second balls.
We've not been very good at either this season, hence our league position. | | | |
