Skates away ticket details announced 17:00 - Dec 9 with 4733 viewsfranniesTache

absolute f*cking pisstake of requirements, 7am start at the ground, be there probably before 10am to stand around and do nothing, forced to use coaches, and looks like they're going to try and force people in the blocks nearest the home ends to sit.

Complete f*cking sh*t and ruined what should be the best away day of the season. I can't believe our own fans said this was a good thing, noddy f*cking pr*cks.

That i know of Northern Saints (which i think is the biggest), London Saints and Welsh Saints. doubt the total of those combined is more than 50 people, in fact i think London saints is less than a dozen.

London Saints have between 200 and 250 members, getting on for 50 of them are Season Ticket Holders at St Mary’s

Are they the ones who eat jellied eels, always going on about having to take the apples and pears and are constantly doing the Lambeth Walk?

You cannot reason a person out of something they were not reasoned into.

When I last went to Fratton back in 2004/05 (IIRC - I am rather old) I took the train from Guildford. It was full of Skates so I just kept a low profile and was unscathed.

I mean, I was psychologically damaged by the football but was physically unharmed.

It probably helped that I’m a real hard man.

I don’t remember what the final score was but a great time was had by all (Pompey fans).

I nearly got in a fight with a fellow Saints fan so it wasn’t my proudest moment.

This is the irony of it all.

Most of our fans are far more likely to get involved in fisticuffs with themselves rather than with any set of opposing fans.

We are averaging 47 per game so far, despite only 3 going to Liverpool and 6 to Norwich in cup.

You probably recognise the old faces like me, but in last 3 or 4 years a lot of new younger members have joined boosting our membership

But why are they getting tickets ahead of fans who have been to more away games? Correct me if I'm wrong, but they have held back about 200 tickets so that all the London Saints members can go to the Pompey game, even if some of them have only attended one away game? So they are jumping the queue ahead of people who have been to 10? Are London Saints or Northern Saints being given tickets regardless of their loyalty?

So 47 tickets for any London Saints members, who have been to 17 away games today, or just any London Saints members?

Tickets prioritised in line with SFC criteria, most but not all will have been to at least 17 away games in last two seasons, as travelling away from London often easier than from Southampton.

We have one member whose not missed an away game in 40 years, and a few others just a handful in that period

The one thing is they actually all go to the games, rather than numerous supporters who just buy tickets never intending to go, then try to sell them on, just to build up their numbers.

Managed to use the free wi fi which they now have onboard on certain airlines whilst I was flying back from Australia today . I booked my skate ticket today. It was a Nightmare trying to work out when to log on as the time differences vary because there’s so many time zones to fly through but I got there in the end buying a ticket online at Doha airport .

I am just trying to work out who is getting these "reserved" tickets and if it's fair. It looks like 400 to 500 tickets kept back. If all these people are loyal fans who have been to many away games this season fair enough. But I don't suspect that is the case. There was an empty block at Charlton, and they said it was sold out. I knew people who wanted to go, but couldn't because it was sold out, yet there was an empty block. The Pompey game is a huge game that so many people are desperate to go to, and they have reserved about 400 to 500 seats, but for who? Why should loyal fans have to wait until their particular number of away games, whilst 500 fans get tickets automatically, if that's the case. The Echo have told me they will try to contact the club for transparency.

Yup I’m fully aware the London Saints do most aways, as I alluded to I know a few of them from games and I see the same faces at virtually every away. Cannot fault their loyalty home or away. Same is true for the northern Saints who are also equally as committed.

Much rather those mushes get tickets than the lot who buy to hoard numbers and sell the tickets on the minute they get them

But that just makes it less interesting, if we’re all sat at st Mary’s with half and halfs it’s not a derby

You won’t see many half and half scarves at a Merseyside derby, apart from the tourist reds at Anfield. The Anfield derby is a very strange one these days. Everton fans get kettled by the police into the ground and kept back after the game to allow the home fan to get their coaches home via the sovenir shop. The atmosphere in the game itself is really low key and somewhat sanitised with the tourists not really seeing Everton as a rival.

Goodison derbys were different, pissed up bear pits which is what derbies should be. You rarely saw a red in the Everton ends in the past 10 years and when they were, it kicked off.

It will interesting to see what it will be like at BMD with reds possibly getting the seat unique expensive seats that you don’t need to be a member for.

Its sad that the Merseyside derby is so segregated these days, although before the game the away side seem to drink in their own pubs and then march to the others ground en masse, I'm not sure it is kettled, just that the police escort them to prevent rrouble.

Up to the 1990's there were plenty of Everton fans in the Kop & Liverpool fans in the Gwladys street without any problems, I remember seeing on TV in the 1980's games where Liverpool were en masse in the front section of the Gwladys street with Everton in the rear, no segregation and no trouble

A number of us can’t get a train to Southampton early enough on a Sunday morning, so are going to have a night out in Southampton on Saturday night and stay up there overnight.

Can see a fair few doing this.

We are using Uber from Bournemouth, sometimes cheaper than train.

Liverpool fans had no restrictions before or after the games at Goodison, that’s bizarrely only reserved for those nasty pasty Everton fans.

It will be interesting to see how it works at the new ground as there will definitely be a ‘coming together’ as there’s only one way in really.

I’d imagine it will be a see how it goes for the first time.

In fairness the Everton away support will be more locally based than Liverpool's away support, so by definition will have a more volatile element than Liverpool's

As you have said a large part of Liverpool's non Merseyside based support these days doesn't see Everton as their rivals, so it follows, that a larger part of Everton's support is males of a certain age and culture rather than nice middle class families from the home counties

You are not wrong Pat, although to be fair I don't really care about the middle class coming into football.

It used to be like going on a long haul flight, someone is stupid enough to pay £5,000 to sit in First Class to New York, so I can go for £500 quid or something like that.

Football is the same, so to answer Cocklebreath's question, I have tried to get an answer from the club on many occasions and they usually refuse to comment, but off the record it is something like if you have a major sponsor who wants a few tickets for away games you have to oblige, likewise if someone is paying you £75k for an executive box then likewise the club are probably going to give him some.

Up to fairly recently this has rarely been a problem, but now the major sponsor is locally based P & O Cruises so they will have high ranking employees who support Saints so they will pull a few strings so to speak.

In fairness it is a surprise that more tickets are not being given to sponsors, back in 1984 for the trip to Pompey Townsend Thoresen ferries sailed from both Southampton & Portsmouth working in the shipping industry there were loads of their employees who got tickets through the company from both clubs, so this isn't a new thing

i think we all expect it to an extent but this season it feels like the percentage being given away is much higher than it has been, and for a number of games we've seen blocks effectively left empty when match going fans wanted tickets.

The game against the skates was always going to be one everyone wanted to go to, and the anger here will be that people are "jumping the queue", which to be honest i tend to agree with.

In my opinion it's about fairness, and if someone misses out on say 13 aways to a corporate who's done none that is completely wrong for me.

Maybe the club should have some "crown jewels" games where these corporate tickets aren't allowed, games like this, or games with extremely small allocations

I don't disagree with what you say, indeed I can't see why there have been several games with empty blocks, if the tickets are being spread amongst sponsors then it would be highly unlikely that every sponsor would be not turning up, there would be at least some who would.

The only answer on this one is that a headline sponsor has taken a block of tickets then just sat on them.

Essentially you are right if someone with 13 aways is missing out it is wrong, but you also have to consider that there are a few sponsors that are big away fans as well, I know someone who has corporate hospitality and goes to every away game and did do when he was just a normal season ticket holder, he has to get it through the club now, as he hasn't got the points on his season ticket.

The above would perhaps answer the question about sponsors not being allowed, some are bigger fans than the so called normal fans.

The answer is to have some sort of loyalty system for sponsors, trouble is how do you police it.

The most accurate answer I could give is that if there was one ticket left and you have a sponsor who is putting £75,000 a season into the club or give it to someone who is paying £500 as a season ticket holder, who do you want to make sure renews next season, I don't perhaps agree with that, but it is the blunt reality of the modern football game whether you are Southampton< Liverpool, Arsenal or Accrington Stanley ! Exactly

It's so obvious that they have blocked out a square of seats in 3 different places. I don't remember it being so obvious that seats are being reserved.in any other game, maybe one block, but not 3 different sections. Seems like they are giving more away than usual because ofcourse everyone wants to be at this game. The problem being is that sponsors might be giving tickets to people who just fancy seeing the atmosphere or neutrals who fancy seeing the goings on, and arn't the passionate Saints fans who should be getting the tickets instead.
