| Damion Downs 15:21 - Dec 22 with 1167 views | felly1 | Let this be true. Please please Mr Spors, for a late xmas present can you bring in a proper big and strong no 9 to give us a plan B. https://footballleagueworld.co | | | | |
| Damion Downs on 15:36 - Dec 22 with 1129 views | InTimeAddedOn | Agreed, please let it be so. If it is Hamburg then we could take Robert Glatzel as a swop as part of the deal. He’s a sharp cookie, a good friend and fellow Saint spends a lot of time working in that part of Germany and has long said he’s worth a punt. The only concern would be he has had a few injuries so we’d have to be sure he is fit and firing on all cylinders but if so comes recommended by someone who has seen him score plenty of goals during Hamburg’s time outside the top flight before getting back up this season. | | | |
| Damion Downs on 16:09 - Dec 22 with 1067 views | 1885_SFC | I reckon there's a good chance he'll go. He needs to make Pochettino's USA squad for the World Cup next year and he isn't getting any game time here. Auf Wiedersehen nutzloses Stück Scheiße! | |

| Damion Downs on 16:37 - Dec 22 with 1012 views | franniesTache | God i hope they take him, he's got to be one of the worst professional footballers i think i've ever seen, his first touch is absolutely shocking, like someone has strapped a brick to his foot, and he seems to have absolutely no positioning or football brain. It was a genuinely awful signing and i have no idea which one of our statto nerds thought it was a good idea, but whoever it was needs firing. | | | |
| Damion Downs on 18:09 - Dec 22 with 920 views | grumpy | He hasn't impressed me but you have to ask why Did the Germans play him 6 times in their U20 last year?. Why was he considered good enough for the US national side, playing 6 times? Why does Pochettino rate him so highly? Why are Hamburg so interested in signing him? | | | |

What I struggle with, is if fans like us who pay good dough to watch games, can see queens like him and tall Paul are thieving money under false pretences from our club. Why can't the club? It's hardly rocket science is it

The question of whether fans know better than clubs is complex, with the answer depending on the specific domain of knowledge, Generally clubs have superior expertise in technical ,operational and financial matters, while fans possess a deeper understanding of the clubs culture, community, and emotional connection that drives the sport,

"Why does Pochettino rate him so highly?" How highly does Pochettino rate him? He's never selected him for any starting lineup in any team he's managed that I'm aware of, and he certainly didn't select him for the USA's latest squad. Haji Wright and Folarin Balogun are his first choice strikers. [Post edited 23 Dec 0:15]

Downs was called up by Pochettino in May this year In June he was named in the squad for the CONCACAF Gold Cup and scored in the Quarter Final. He's only 21,Pochettino rates him. Hes not been great for us but I've not seen enough of him to be absolutely sure he is as poor as some would suggest. His time has not at Saints has done nothing for his international career. So he had a few short sub appearances and now Pochettino has seen what he can do, he's dropped him from the squad. That didn't last long. [Post edited 23 Dec 0:15]

Playing for Saints recently hasn't exactly done him any favours.

The thought of a player who cannot control a ball actually playing at the World Cup is beyond surreal to my mind. He'll probably win the Golden Boot....

January 2026 Damion Downs goes to Hamburg on loan, scores half a dozen gaols in his first 12 appearances. Would you prefer us to persist with him then? How much time do we give him? Do you want us to achieve promotion?
