| £120 for a '76 Anniversary shirt... on 10:50 - Jan 9 with 2552 views | kingslandstand1 | I've just come on here to post about that - £120!! Mind, only going to make 1976 of them though still keeping the P&O logo Yes commemoratative, but does it not highlight how little we have actually won as we were a top division club for the majority of those years. We did come very close mind in 84, runners up to Lpool in the league and probably should have won the League Cup in 2016/17 Still, we'll win the Championship title this season so that's something to look forward to | |

They not only got the pricing wrong, they couldn't have timed it any worse, just after Christmas. It's almost like they've got someone in charge saying, 'How can we do things in the worst possible way?'

Yes, for a club of our size, we are in terms of major trophies won, the most underachieving club in the country, if not the world. Like you, I continue to dream that one day we will at least win the Championship, which would just be a run-of-the-mill thing for other clubs of our size. There is not one club above us in this list that's won fewer major trophies, and many smaller clubs have won more. Most of them have won the Championship a few times too: https://www.englishfootballlea [Post edited 9 Jan 11:07]

Because they're greedy. But by pricing it so high, their sales will be so severely reduced that they'll actually make less money than if they'd priced them at £40. How much does it cost to make one of those plastic shirts in China? 50p? [Post edited 9 Jan 11:35]

The obsessive collector in me immediately thought "I'll buy that" had to give my head a wobble as I wondered when id ever wear it, I stopped wearing replica shirts when I was about 16 and that's 35 years ago

Everything they do is just wrong. It's startling. This is by far the best shirt we've had in years (even better without the sponsor) and they dont make it available on general sale. They'd make a killing if they whacked it out at normal price... | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Its a shame our dominance in the old Southern League never gets mentioned. Until the League format was extended to 4 Divisions in 1921 Saints had won the Southern League on several occasions and also reached 2 FA Cup Finals. Teams like Spurs were also in the Southern League at the time.

Not nerdy at all, a great shout. If Admiral can do it for West Ham why not Southampton? This Puma creation is neither one thing or the other, I might have considered buying it to add to my 76 archive but plastering P&O Cruises across the chest totally ruins it as no shirt from that era carried advertising and this one certainly doesn’t need it. Shows a total lack of understanding for the era so I will pass on this one but would definitely be up for a pucker Admiral 76 replica like the West Ham one.

You can buy it without the P and O branding. The ones the team will wear on Saturday will have it...seems reasonable.

I will resist the temptation to purchase such a priceless artefact on the grounds I have no doubt that if I were daft enough to wear it into my local, the regulars would shout "Phuq me..Chris Marsden' s grandad has shown up to buy us a round." This is a cheap and hurtful slur concerning my hair having long ago departed for the promised land. I will counter their childish words by claiming my head is a solar panel for a sex machine. Sadly they know I am bluffing.

Seconded, that would have been a good idea. They could have put yellow Puma logos on a blue background on the sleeves instead of the original Admiral logos. One nice touch on the front of the new shirt is the 76 Cup winning players.signatures in a slightly darker yellow. Considering the club stand to pocket £237,120 if they sell all 1976 shirts I hope they give the surviving players some decent royalties from the sales.

The Club's announcement said 10% of "profits" will go to the 1976 squad members. This is a bit cryptic and implies it's not 10% of sales revenue. How are they going to define "profit" I wonder.

Re-reading the press release it deffo says 10% of "profits" to the lads of '76. So, say these 3 card tricksters arbitrarily declare a 20% profit on the sales (probably optimistic) and 10 % of that is the divi. Money to squad will be 0.1 x 0.2 x 237,100 = £ 4,742.40 Given they should give a share to the estate of the deceased members as well, that is just shy of 400 quid each to the 12 who took part. For context that is 8 quid per year since they won our only trophy in living memory. If I were them I would say " put it in the blind box at the end of the bar" and then call a few football correspondents and get them to publish that on their next back page.
