| Football Is Gone on 20:58 - Feb 4 with 823 views | Southamptonfan | I absolutely agree with you Nick, and was about to say the same in response to your reply to me in the other thread. A Man City v Arsenal final is so boring and so predictable. You mentioned the top clubs needing to f@ck off and join a super league, yeah totally agree. Who will win the premier league? It will also be one of Man City or Arsenal. Next season it will Liverpool again, if not Man City or Arsenal. You do get the odd different cup winner, Crystal Palace being last season's FA Cup winner, Newcastle but they are still PL teams, who have spent a lot of money. Palace won't win it again for years if ever again. Have we ever had a cup winner from the Championship or league one in recent times, like the 1976 upset or the Wimbledon upset? Not a chance. At the Man City game, the advertising boards are displaying Chinese writing!. At the Arsenal game, the fans there were mostly Malaysian, Chinese, Japanes whatever they are, taking pictures, having paid £100 for the ticket. The "working class " from the area can't go, they can't afford it. In the PL, Villa won't win the league, Bournemouth, Palace are all back down the bottom.of.the league again. With VAR, super rich tourists, Sky f@cking TV and all the money going to only 6 clubs, yeah I.agree football is gone. I know one thing, despite my frustrations and moans with Saints, you wouldn't catch me dead in any of those PL grounds. [Post edited 4 Feb 21:13]

Well put as usual Southamptonfan. My sentiments to a tee. Nick and I have a history of disagreement on numerous subjects concerning the Saints. However on this topic he is entirely correct. In between doing other things, I watched bits and pieces of Arsenal v Chelsea yesterday evening. A throughly boring exhibition of sterile sideways and backward passing which if continued will ultimately kill the game for the majority of UK fans.

Spot on saintmark1976. It's an utter borefest. Football has been turned into a scripted show, that so many across the world pay hundreds of pounds for.

| Football Is Gone on 00:00 - Feb 5 with 588 views | DorsetIan | If you qualify for a European competition you shouldn't be in the League Cup. That would liven up the League Cup no end. Anything connected with Man City kills me. A team made up of some of the best footballers in the world playing the most soulless, boring version of the game imaginable. I futilely told my son tonight that they were the Anatoly Karpov of football teams. | |

| Football Is Gone on 11:27 - Feb 5 with 334 views | Ifonly | There are some simple things that could be done to make football better e.g. - Make VAR operate as originally intended (clear and obvious errors only) - Change the offside rule to give the advantage to the attacking team (e.g. the "daylight" principle) - Make the goals bigger (by the same amount that goalkeepers have got bigger since goal sizes were standardised) - Get rid of penalty shoot outs and replace them with a decider based on which was the most attacking team in the game (e.g. number of corners won) - Allow free kicks to be taken from further back while defenders have to stay 10 yds from original spot (means free kick awarded on edge of box becomes great chance to score whereas now it is too close to goal) The money issue is harder to solve, but there are ways to do that too. | | | |
| Football Is Gone on 12:03 - Feb 5 with 304 views | dirk_doone | We're getting old. I'm also bored with Man City winning things, but I was also bored with Liverpool winning them in the 80s and Man United winning them in the 90s. There willl be another club we'll get bored with winning things next, maybe Arsenal. Imagine how Spanish fans who don't support Real Madrid or Barcelona must feel or German fans who don't support Bayern Munich. With regard to Man City's crowds, you might be surprised to see just how much they've grown over the years from the 20,000+ averages they got in the 80s and 90s. Winning trophies does that: https://european-football-stat We all view the days of our youth through rose-tinted glasses now. Youngsters today will be doing the same when they get old. Nothing's like it used to be. [Post edited 5 Feb 12:13]
