Afraid I'm not in that camp. I want them to struggle for a few seasons which, I'll be honest, is probably green eye with what we've been going through since our glory days. But we are the biggest and best club on the South Coast. Aren't we? Ironic noting that we were in the San Siro just 10 years ago. Yes last night they were at the Vitality, but it was against one of the giants of European football from that city

If they win a cup out of this it will be bloody annoying. We will have them chirping at us.

I agree. When I was a kid, in football Bournemouth was always a poor man’s Southampton. If we’d beaten AC Milan by 3 goals, we’d talk about it for years. I never understood the animosity towards them. Especially as many Saints fans live in the area. We have our hated rivals and it’s not them. Bournemouth is just a seaside town with half the shops closed in the centre of it. I say fair play to them for coming this far. No matter what happens in the future, they’ll always have these memories [Post edited 23 Oct 12:34]

They are and always will be an irrelevance. It’s a cyclical game. [Post edited 23 Oct 10:35]

I think the “animosity” to Bournemouth is a big tell of sotonians who support saints, and out of towners. Growing up I don’t remember a single person who disliked them, the opposite in fact, most like me would be genuinely happy for them to do well and still are. In fact I didn’t even know there was even supposed to be anything to it until I was probably in my mid 30s. All anyone from the city has ever cared about, and will ever care about, is the pikeys to the east. Hell I’ve seen more animosity and aggro to spurs in Southampton than Bournemouth.

He was trying to wind me up and the praise and admiration I said I had for what they were doing seemed to annoy him more than biting Portsmouth, Aldershot and Spurs are the only teams I want to see lose on a weekly basis

One assumes that your hatred of the team to the east will override your annoyance at the bubble and you will still go to Fratton in February, yes?
