At the time of writing it is half tine for Villa and having completed 1 2/2 games in the League cup for Villa ie 2 hr 15 mins mins, he is still 45 minutes away from game time for Saints this season. Rumours abound he will be loaned to a Championship club in January. What was the point, if he had stayed here he would have formed a partnership with Schlotterbeck that would be the strongest in the division.

The point for THB was a chance to play in the top division with a champions league club and not to mention more than double his wages no doubt .

Agree with this. I always felt he was a bit over hyped and not as good as most thought.

| Taylor Harwood-Bellis on 08:58 - Oct 30 with 651 views | SaintPaulVW | I never thought THB played that well in the prem for us. Very good in the championship tho under Russ and Tonda. Given his record of success at many clubs, Emeri comes across as quite an astute manager and great at getting the best out of his players. Villa were adrift when he took over. He either rates THB but wants to give him time to settle in to the team or doesn't rate him. Given the size of squads at PL clubs these days they may not be buying players for an immediate need. If THB was sold the idea that he was a direct replacement for Konsa, he was misled. | | | |

I think it was a master stroke getting Schlotterbeck in. A left footed centre back is rare in top flight football. Having that balance in defence can make most right footed players look good. [Post edited 30 Oct 11:02]

This. He was our best CB, but by PL standards, he is mediocre at best. I can’t say much more, else the Villa chairman will be suing me, à la Jamie Carragher. I am not a fan of the scouser, but what a pompous ass the Villa guy is.
