I have a feeling his desire to stay is nowhere near as strong as the clubs desire to keep him.
Would prefer him to go to Spurs and we get Winks in as a direct replacement.
Said earlier we have lost 3 of 4 players we desperately wanted to keep.

His situation is rather different as he still has a long time left on his contract (4 years???).
Although that was also the case with van Dick.
This is where we don’t help ourselves by letting other established players leave. Those who are still with the club will be getting their agents in their ear, angling for a move….. | |

Hopefully Salisu, Perraud, Adam Armstrong and Tella can very quickly be added.

Not writing him off my Malibu & Milk buddy, but he’s too lightweight in that position.
Some of his tackling last season was erratic too.
Good on the ball, yes, but a destroyer, not for me Clive.

If there were rolling subs, and we’re not that far away from that these days, I reckon he’d be one of the most valuable players out there. Pop on for the free kicks and corners, then subbed back off. Until then, he’s excellent for us but is surely a midtable player rather than a top team. | |

Nothing's changed, if a club comes in with a massive offer then Saints are going to look it regardless of what they've said. It's always seemed unlikely that a Villa (and now Spurs?) would put stupid money on the table for him though. Would Villa really spunk 40-50M of the Grealish money on him? He's a decent player and important for us but he's not the sort of a player that other clubs are going to pay a massive premium for. By next summer I think its likely he'll tell the club he wants to move on, he'll still have 3 years left on his contract and we'll cash out for as much as we can (unless we force him to stay another year...which is possible but I think unlikely). |  | | |

I agree. He is worth a great deal to us but it is unlikely that other clubs will want to pay more than around £30m/£35m for him. I believe the club when they say that they want to keep him and that it would take an astronomical figure for them to budge. | | | |

I don’t really look upon the Hjogjberg situation with much anger.
We ended up with a great right-back from Spurs.
Hjogjberg leaving allowed Romeu to really come into his own, I feel.
Levy is clearly a coont, but he is by no means the only one in charge of a football club. | |

I'm as cynical as anybody, but I did see Mr. Armstrong score a great goal in his very first game for the club, only ruined by the usual poor defending and strange selection / tactics. If they get a couple of good defenders in and give Ralph a slap, I would be a little more optimistic.
