Ward-Prowse 08:51 - Aug 12 with 4185 views | PatfromPoole | Vultures appear to be circling. Semmens was adamant at the Forum that he would not be sold. But we have seen before how these people operate, particularly Levy. Interesting times……

Ward-Prowse on 09:11 - Aug 12 with 3053 views | stmichael | Depends on the player himself. I have a feeling his desire to stay is nowhere near as strong as the clubs desire to keep him. Would prefer him to go to Spurs and we get Winks in as a direct replacement. Said earlier we have lost 3 of 4 players we desperately wanted to keep. If Prowse goes too this is a crushing window..

JWP is the only other player in the squad another prem club would want. If he goes we may as well write the season off.

Ward-Prowse on 09:40 - Aug 12 with 2995 views | PatfromPoole | His situation is rather different as he still has a long time left on his contract (4 years???). Although that was also the case with van Dick. This is where we don’t help ourselves by letting other established players leave. Those who are still with the club will be getting their agents in their ear, angling for a move…..

I would add KWP, Romeu and Stuart Armstrong to that list. Hopefully Salisu, Perraud, Adam Armstrong and Tella can very quickly be added. A new Goalkeeper, Left Back (cover), Centre Back and Romeu cover is needed. Diallo too lightweight for that position. Using Djenepo as left back is madness and unfair on the fans and the player. Should be nowhere near our penalty area.

I think it’s a bit early to write off Diallo. He could still be a great find. He definitely has a lot of the attributes needed in that position. A new CB is a must though. Ideally not an Academy player.

Not writing him off my Malibu & Milk buddy, but he’s too lightweight in that position. Some of his tackling last season was erratic too. Good on the ball, yes, but a destroyer, not for me Clive. The whole team lacks steel. Romeu apart.

Ward-Prowse on 10:57 - Aug 12 with 2872 views | Kennington | If there were rolling subs, and we’re not that far away from that these days, I reckon he’d be one of the most valuable players out there. Pop on for the free kicks and corners, then subbed back off. Until then, he’s excellent for us but is surely a midtable player rather than a top team.

Ward-Prowse on 12:38 - Aug 12 with 2737 views | Sadoldgit | He seems very happy here. He is on a long contract. The club have said firmly he isn’t going anywhere. I would be very surprised if he left us this season. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Ward-Prowse on 12:52 - Aug 12 with 2686 views | VeloSaint | Nothing's changed, if a club comes in with a massive offer then Saints are going to look it regardless of what they've said. It's always seemed unlikely that a Villa (and now Spurs?) would put stupid money on the table for him though. Would Villa really spunk 40-50M of the Grealish money on him? He's a decent player and important for us but he's not the sort of a player that other clubs are going to pay a massive premium for. By next summer I think its likely he'll tell the club he wants to move on, he'll still have 3 years left on his contract and we'll cash out for as much as we can (unless we force him to stay another year...which is possible but I think unlikely).
Ward-Prowse on 13:29 - Aug 12 with 2603 views | Sadoldgit | I agree. He is worth a great deal to us but it is unlikely that other clubs will want to pay more than around £30m/£35m for him. I believe the club when they say that they want to keep him and that it would take an astronomical figure for them to budge.
Ward-Prowse on 15:26 - Aug 12 with 2489 views | Wints76 | I think Saints would do all they could to not have to have any dealings with Spura if it can be helped. Isn't there still bad blood from PEH leaving?

Yes and their 'North London Yobbo' days when Rupert was upset with the Richards move.

Ward-Prowse on 16:23 - Aug 12 with 2425 views | PatfromPoole | I don’t really look upon the Hjogjberg situation with much anger. We ended up with a great right-back from Spurs. Hjogjberg leaving allowed Romeu to really come into his own, I feel. Levy is clearly a coont, but he is by no means the only one in charge of a football club.

Ward-Prowse on 21:37 - Aug 12 with 2200 views | DorsetIan | Somebody might offer silly money for him. His free kick ability is pretty unique and there seems to be a lot of silly money about. But I will pin my hopes on Blackmore saying that he is 100% staying. If he leaves too, this window will have been a massacre.

Yes, if JWP leaves there maybe some questions to answer from ‘above’.

Villa fans think an offer in excess of £40 million would be snapped up..I feel he will be here for this season and if we're still bottom dwellers come next May he'll definitely be off to greener pastures

I'm as cynical as anybody, but I did see Mr. Armstrong score a great goal in his very first game for the club, only ruined by the usual poor defending and strange selection / tactics. If they get a couple of good defenders in and give Ralph a slap, I would be a little more optimistic. We seem to be afflicted by S&M. Stephens and McCarthy....

He’s been awful since his injury, Newcastle fans would drive him down here, don’t get it done Ralph and drop McCarthy you cockle

Interesting. I will ask the 3 Toon ST holders I know opinions on this. I agree Ralph should drop McCarthy. Why he starts is beyond me. Forster unfortunately isn’t much of an improvement mind.
