| Would Saints Supporters Have Danny Ings Back At St Mary's on 10:13 - Apr 26 with 1149 views | franniesTache | His injury record is the same as it was and he's a year older now so won't get any better, i'd probably say no because we can't afford to spend money on two players - Walcott and Ings - on high wages that are likely to spend a good chunk of the season out injured | | | |
| Would Saints Supporters Have Danny Ings Back At St Mary's on 10:17 - Apr 26 with 1141 views | Sadoldgit | If he was able to reproduce his best form, yes of course. Sadly when he left us he was below par and he hasn’t set the world alight at Villa so time to find a younger, fitter player. That player could still be Armstrong next season if he can get his act together at this level. | | | |

It depends, if the deal was right for both parties then why not, but my reservations would be. With the amount of games he misses each year and his age - that’s a negative mark. I’d also question how motivated he’d be coming back here. He’s not going to win anything here and he’s not using us to prove himself and earn the big money move now, as that ship has sailed. When he was playing well for us he was in the England team. There's a World Cup mid-way through next season and, other than Kane, we aren't really blessed with goal scorers and the likes of Rashford are still in with a shout of being called up.

Nothing to do with how he left or why but for the reasons above - older, injuries, form etc. He offers nothing that we might not get from taking a chance on a younger option from the Champ, esp if we let go some of the players who have not quite clicked this season such as AA, Smallbone, Djenepo. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

| Would Saints Supporters Have Danny Ings Back At St Mary's on 12:49 - Apr 26 with 966 views | SaintNick | Two points from this threat. Firstly, Ings injury record has been quite good in the last 3 seasons including this one 19/20 played 38 premier League games 20/21 played 29 premier league games 21/22 played in 24 premier league games for Villa and been an unused sub in most of the other 8 Secondly, It can work out when players come back, look at Mick Channon, he returned from Manchester City for three very good seasons. | |

Mick Channon maintained his form though. It’s been a while since Ings had his purple patch with us and there is no sign that he will reach that peak again. He won’t come cheap and we have seen with Tino and Broja, there are cheaper gems out there with longer careers ahead of them.

So in 20/21 he didn’t figure in a quarter of games? If he’d played more games this season he would have had more chance of picking up an injury. Of course he may not have as well. This has been MLT’s best season for being not injured by my reckoning

It’s easy to be logical and think “well, he is a good player and we could do worse”. But… Football is about emotion and that pikey tvvat shat on us and clearly doesn’t really give a toss about SFC, so I’m with you on this ‘68. I don’t follow Saints to be logical or dispassionate. If wanted that I’d go to the golf.
