I still can’t get my head around the fact that Martin Semmens felt that Nathan Jones would be a manager that has the talent to coach our current players or attract any improved signings to Premiership survival. Wtf was he thinking ?

At least that would be some entertainment.
To be honest I am beginning to re-evaluate what this modern footy means to me. If we go down I will pay over my hard earned cash however mere survival in the PL is becoming a bore. At least in the 90’s we had some players that had an association with the Club and City.
£30+ a game for 90 minutes of dross or using that cash to go and see some comedy acts and live bands…… mmmm [Post edited 2 Jan 2023 18:14]

Was it really Semmens' decision though? He told us earlier this season that Saints were constantly scouting for managers to take over from RH. I still can't believe that Jones was top of that list in November.
It would have been less risky in the summer when Saints could have replaced him if it didn't work out — as they did with Pelegrino. As a mid-season appointment with Saints already in the bottom 3 it looks like madness. Let's hope they spotted something in him that we've yet to see. | |

They probably couldn't get any decent manager to agree to the terms (i.e no money to spend, must play and develop the young players etc). The top managers want money to spend and ambition. There are much better, well run, more ambitious clubs out there. Managers arn't stupid. They see our young squad, lacking in quality, no money to spend, they run a mile.
So we end up with the lower league wannabes who want to fulfil their dream of managing in the PL. They accept the bad conditions for their dream to come true. [Post edited 2 Jan 2023 18:31]
