Not an awful lot in it between them; all three managers were utterly woeful over the 16-month period. Anybody suggesting Hassenhutl was harshly treated has clearly been watching cartoons.

| Ralph 12 Points from 14 Games on 05:57 - May 24 with 1612 views | saintwizzler | Not again… How many Ralph threads!? When we restarted after lockdown I moved my ST to the cheap seats in The Itchen. From this vantage point I had the great opportunity to join in the applause when our subs ‘warmed up’ and to marvel at the incredible ever changing hairstyles of our heroes in red and white. It also gave a great view of the benches and technical areas. Getting to the chase, I’ve never seen a man with body language so bad as Ralph Hasenhüttl during the 90 minutes of action. Hands in pockets, staring at the ground, completely and utterly disinterested. I’m sure if he could have he’d of had a game of Snake on his Nokia. He didn’t want to be at Southampton Football Club. Now if you’re on £115k a week you ain’t going to walk away are you? Gone was the clean shaven Austrian who joined the club with his high press, heavy metal football we all enjoyed. It had become highly depressing football. Sports Republic, maybe in a thank you for keeping us up aka doing enough then the whole playing staff and management downing tools on losing runs, gave Hasenhüttl time with their new buy in kids to sell on for a profit 2 seasons later plan. Big mistake. Hasenhüttl had already said he was going to retire when his contract was up. He should have gone at the end of last summer. With a thanks for everything Alpine Klopp here’s a seasons wage, enjoy the early retirement. Quite frankly he was done. Anyway what’s done is done and WE (have to) MARCH ON. My season ended at the full time whistle v Fulham which is my last home game, The Forest game being my last away. With that hunz it’s time for my summer sabbatical where I, for my own mental health, move away from Southampton Football Club and most importantly the word HASENHÜTTL. So have a lovely summer of all things fun and cricket. If anyone is in 5 Rivers Sunday prematch and indeed whilst the Liverpool luv in is happening at The Temple of Doom, come over and say hi. I am wearing a full Southampton FC kit with FAT LUMP 7 on the back. Peace, love and double doves Fat Lump from Banbury. X | |

Hey Wiz, have a great Summer and think positive. Don't forget our new adventure in the cheap seats starts on 5th August (or 4th if picked as a live game)when every other team in that lower division will be wanting to slap our ar5es and walk all over the mighty Southampton Football Club and get some oneupmanship on a club that were playing European football with the really big boys just a few years ago We'll be marching on ok, but possibly in to the abyss ....................... COYS!

Absolutely correct about the body language, and the post match interviews. Anybody with half a brain could see it was time he was gone, but not the owners apparently. I thought they were intelligent people...
| Ralph 12 Points from 14 Games on 11:10 - May 24 with 1371 views | Ifonly | Saintwizzler is spot on. Ralph was shot and more or less told us that himself. But we can also see exactly what would have happened if we had kept Ralph on because it's there in front of our eyes. It's what Selles has been doing. It's clear now that Selles and Ralph were of one mind and Selles has simply carried this on in his spell. You can tell from the way that Selles behaves on the touchline that he won't shut up. As an assistant he must have been in the manager's ear constantly. He fell out with Jones because Jones was turning his back on the Ralph/Selles style (Jones has given some heavy hints that this was the case) and ultimately the board backed Selles to return to that style. The results are there for all to see. We were nailed on for relegation under Ralph and the big mistake was not bringing in an experienced manager who could make some significant changes to the way we play. It wasn't obvious at the time, but what the board was doing by sacking NJ and appointing Selles was simply winding the clock back to the first part of the season under Ralph. In doing that they signed our death warrant. | | | |

| Ralph 12 Points from 14 Games on 16:27 - May 25 with 1170 views | DorsetIan | I'd appreciate another thread on how great and misunderstood Gao was. The drive and dynamism of the guy, his plans to take the club to the next level, his tight bond with the fanbase, his lovely daughter, and his ambition to lead Saints towards the top. If it wasn't for the pesky Chinese govt blocking his funds, we'd probably be in the Champions League by now. Instead he f*cked us up good and proper. | |
