Perhaps they are, but I cant help thinking it is just a hobby for them that after a few years they will get bored of

Well if it is, their fans will have enjoyed the ride. They were properly in the doldrums before they arrived. I thought I was supposed to be the sceptical cynic on here 🤷♀️

Whether it runs out of steam or is a long term commitment time will tell, but either way, they have brought a smile on the fans and supporters of a club and area which has been struggling. As someone else has said, even if it is short term at least for that period of time they should enjoy the ride. I have more faith in them doing it for the right reasons than I do with the owners of say Newcastle as an example.

I also think they are loving it but the more successful they are the more expensive it will get. Even Ryan Reynolds doesn't have the money to compete in the PL. It also seems unfair the other teams around them that they get all the attention and global views of their Netflix series. But football no longer cares about fairness. One team can just get a huge advantage these days which skews the league but there are no controls in place.

Between 1982 & 2022, Wrexham had not had an average attendance in excess of 5,000 aside from 2007 when they had 5,030. Since entering the League in 1922, they have only had averages above 10,000 on 8 occasions, Wrexham only has a population of around 45,000, that is why it has spent all but 4 (1977,78 - 80/81) of its 101 years in the league either in Division 3 or below. It has no real built up areas around it aside from Chester which is in England and not a source of support. It is a play thing that can never be self sustainable if it has to invest to gain promotion

Burnley’s population is only just over 80,000, and they are surrounded by larger clubs. Yet they seem to do OK for crowds. #populationstatsgeek

| Wrexham on 14:22 - Nov 17 with 1579 views | saint901 | The two owners seem to come across as nice guys but they are actors and appearances count for a lot in that game. For me the clue to their involvement was in a filmed discussion with the finance guru at the club. He was saying that yes, you've invested £10.8m but how much is the club worth? For me that says they will want to get the club to the brink of the Championship or PL and then sell out to somebody with real money who needs to sportswash a name or reputation. | | | |

yes but Burnley as well as being twice the size of Wrexham also has several large towns nearby such as Accrington (40,000) Clitheroe (20,000) Padiham (10,000)Nelson (30,000) & Colne (20,000) That means it's metropolitan population is about 200,000 whereas Wrexham only has Mold (10,000) so a much smaller metropolitan populationof around 50,000. Yes Burnley has some other clubs nearby, but those living in Burnley would not support Blackburn for instance, although the two Manchester clubs would draw a lot of support. The same could be said of Wrexham with Merseyside where Liverpool & Everton get a lot of support from North Wales

I imagine their fans are gutted they didn't get purchased by such great owners as Sport Republic...

"They seem to be having a great time" What? The spice zombies? "The shops that are open have nervous looking staff, hoping the single security guard they have is enough to keep out the zombie hoards." It sounds like they are enjoying their shopping experience anyway. [Post edited 17 Nov 2023 16:12]

Realistically, what chance has the town got of improving when, as mentioned in the article, the Government minister in charge of overseeing Wrexham is called Ken Skates? Must be like a home from home for him all those miles away from his south coast hovel of origin… [Post edited 20 Nov 2023 19:21]
