They managed to hold out till the close of play, a last wicket stand so far of 61 in just over 8 overs. 325 is at least something to defend and we might add a few more in the morning

The final wicket made it look not so bad. But other than Stark that’s a weak bowling line up. Pope, brooks, Crawley, Atkinson , smith and jacks all gave it away

Why is it, our players look like world beaters until they step off the plane to Australia

| Ashes on 11:18 - Dec 6 with 592 views | dirk_doone | To keep going there and getting thrashed 5-0 is ridiculous. Isn't there any way, we could just stop going there (and India)? Maybe there should be a 2-tier test system with promotion and relegation. When the Ryder Cup became too one-sided, they changed it to Europe v America, which is more competitive. I guess there is no team in the cricket world we could join forces with. The other European nations aren't very good at cricket. It could at least be reduced to a 3 match series. Do the Aussies really need to see the Poms humiliated in 5 different cities? I guess the answer to that from them would be, yes. [Post edited 6 Dec 11:27]

They hardly looked like world beaters. They stepped off the plane from New Zealand, where they were thrashed 3-0 in a 1- day series. The result would have been the same if it had been a test series. It was pretty obvious they weren't going to do any better in Australia. The England cricket team is like a football team that draws its home games and loses away. [Post edited 6 Dec 11:41]

| Ashes on 12:14 - Dec 6 with 527 views | HytheFerrytales | Beyond Miserable Too reliant on Stokes and Root At least 3 of our top 7 batters should go to their hotel bathroom tonight, look in the mirror and give themselves an uppercut. Wicketkeeping and catching....no words Wood a great bowler but is the Ross Stewart of English cricket..hardly ever available. Archer sadly is not what he was. Other seamers are rookies...Australia bad place to be a rookie. No quality spinner to call on. McCullum comes over as a Billy Big Blx lacking a Plan B. | | | |

Is it really? That’s terrible, I know we haven’t won a series since 86 but didn’t realise we hadn’t won a test for that long.

Yes, it's is, We haven't won a single test in Australia for 15 years. We did also win that 2010/11 series. Ignore the keyboard warrior. These Saints victories are really hurting him. [Post edited 7 Dec 16:27]

It looks like I can handle online abuse a hell of a lot better than you can. You're the one who always gets yourself in a state, especially after a Saints victory ;) https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/southampton/members/Ninja9 [Post edited 7 Dec 15:55]

| Ashes on 16:46 - Dec 7 with 80 views | UlsterBaz | I’ve watched a lot of the two Tests and England have been second best for most of it. In particular the lack of application in the batting drives me mad. There are times in Test cricket when you need to occupy the crease to grind out a decent score. Dig in, try and see off the new ball and frontline bowlers then scoring should get easier. It’s not a T20 ffs. Stokes made a decent fist of that this morning aided by Jacks but the rest fanny about for 20 - 30 deliveries then get out. If they don’t change their mindset this could genuinely end up 5-0. | | | |

Yep, that’s Bazball for you. Just a ridiculous name for impatient slogging by a team that apart from Root and Stokes ( when he applies himself ) are at best average and at worst no hopers. And we are being humiliated by an under strength Australia at that.
