| Was that the worst skate support at St Mary's? 07:55 - Oct 12 with 1147 views | FredTheLeg | They were an absolute embarrassment. Never been that impressed with them at our place but don't recall them being as bad as that at St Mary's before. So much for the whole 'best fans in the world' bollocks. Heard they partook in some fence rattling too. Anyone know what happened? | | | | |

They will be a lot more hostile at their place, and coins aplenty will be getting chucked our way, as this is basically how they tend to be.

I thought our support was brilliant yesterday . The Northam was loud and I could see lots going on in the chapel from our lot although you can’t always hear them but we all know how Shyte the acoustics are. As for the fence rattling as I walked past I could see just fans baiting each other through the fencing until police on horseback arrived and cleared the saints fans away. I did hear one copper got injured though.

I was in the Itchen and thought they sounded alright.

I was in Kingsland and not far from them and I could hear them quite a bit but similarly I thought our vocal support was poor until towards the end of the game. However, my brother was in the opposite stand and said he could not hear the Skates at all and thought our vocal support was good for the most part. I did not see any problems fan behaviour wise. The usual baiting and banter but nothing extraordinary.

The annoying thing about the fence thing is the cozzers will use that as justification for having the bubble As I said on another thread I drove past some coaches on the M27 at about 4, there were a couple of riot vans on the bridge near Farehan too, who wants to be stuck on a coach for hours? It will be the same when we play at Fratton

I was in the Itchen North and couldn't hear them at all, apart from a couple of Play Ups. Maybe it was because the home support was so loud, but they were the quietest away fans we've had at St Mary's for a long while. I notice Butty can't help showing his true colours . As for the fence ratting, I was walking in Ocean Parade with Saints fans who'd come out of the Northam quite a while after the final whistle. They were in a celebratory mood and pulled back some of the black plastic sheeting on the fence to taunt any Pompey fans they could find. There were a few of the Blue Few on a little ridge, about 20 yards back from the fence, filming them with their mobile phones. Then a group of mounted police came charging down Ocean Parade, at which point I left. [Post edited 12 Oct 11:00]

I didn’t see any of them but good loud Saints fans who stood up throughout & gave the Skate Skum plenty. With the Chapel Kop one side & the Kingsland tourists on the other, they didn’t get much chance to be heard apart from the odd usual rendition that got quickly drowned out. Seeing their faces at the final whistle was priceless, though relieved, our celebrations were truly wild. ‘‘Twas loud n proud, a good day out & thankfully the result we wanted After all the recent shenanigans around the club & the biggest game yet, we need our first away win on Wednesday to kick on. Where we are in the Kingsland (quite near the blue few) they were not especially loud. In fact yesterday put to bed that we all sit there with a blanket on our laps and a flask of coffee! Great atmosphere from both K and C stands both sides of the Skates, even standing!! Overall good singing from all sides

You're right the true fans were out in force yesterday. I met a few fans yesterday from all over the world. I met a group from Belgium, a group from Dubai. The big games get all the Saints fans from across the country and the world together. I did walk over to that section at the end to give them some stick and it was full of Saints fans clambering over the fences to give them stick, and you could see the same in the Chapel. They were £55 seats, I have a feeling there were plenty there who don't normally go, as that section is normally quite empty, loads left in that section for Bolton, but proper Saints fans nonetheless. Presumably a reference to the tree the young lad hid behind whilst filming Middlesbrough, but I've been to Boro many times and never seen a palm tree, unless there's a secret Teeside Riviera we've not heard about?

There was, but a bit like the Teeside Transporter Bridge, Oz and the boys from Auf Wiedersehen Pet took it across to the USA
