Having seen yesterday, we still need a proper centre forward. Lots of great things yesterday, but the fact that we played AA as centre forward is worrying. I had thought we would be playing Stewart or Downs as CF this season, but perhaps WS doesn't rate them (yet). Whatever the reason, if one of those 2 isn't the CF then we'll struggle.
AA, Archer and Diaz are not proper CFs. Tall Paul was and we're missing him already. With WS's style of play we need someone to hold the ball up and get on the end of crosses. The likes of AA can do neither of those things. If we don't get someone who can then we'll struggle. | | | |

Not so long ago, we would sign a proven British striker in the football league, who knew English football, 26 or so years old, scored 25 plus goals in league one so was proven. His name was Ricky Lambert. There are goal scorers in league one and the championship. It really doesn't need to be so complicated Saints 😪 | |

It’s a shame he’s a Skate and they would never sell him to us but I really rate Colby Bishop.
I think he is one of the top strikers in this League, along with Stansfield at Birmingham. |  |

Moore proved a handful for Wrexham but I think eventually Stewart will prove a better player although he didn't feature much in the end of the pre-season friendlies and I'm not sure Still does rate him, as mentioned.
Downs should be back-up - give the lad some time, I think he's going to be useful given more minutes. Hopefully we'll have Downs and Stewart up front against Northampton - I think the terrible duo have yet to be seriously tested together.
Saints should sell Armstrong and bring two decent wingers in. The club's failure in this area for quite a few seasons has been pathetic TBH. | |

I think he was picked purely on the back of his last season for us playing in the Championship. That and the fact that WS has kinda given everybody a clean slate probably?
It's going to take a few games for the boss to find out who really wants to be here & wants to play for him - plus there will be a few players coming & going yet. It must be frustrating for the gaffer with 3-weeks still to go until the transfer window closes which is ridiculous. |  |

I know we have several in the squad but we need one who scores goals. We can't rely on Manning and Stephens to do that all season.
The stats for yesterday's game are ridiculously one-sided. With a good centre forward, we'd have scored 4.

Downs could have got that winner as I thought he got fouled while on the line to score so just as well Super Jack was lurking. That ref would never have given us a pen at that stage of the game! |  |
