Peretz is a complete and utter punt...a " swing hard in case you hit it" move.
The problem I have is that, as a mere fan, it brings me no expectation. It doesn't make me sit up and say "well that's one of our 3 key requirements in the window ticked off". It's more like slipping into a tepid bath and thinking it's" better than nothing"
Let's wish the lad well on Saturday...Of course if he doesn't start, this Forum will be compulsory reading later in the day.

Don't worry. Big Jack has played between the sticks in the past
There are far to many fans out there that think all the goals being conceded are down to the goalkeeper. There are clear issues with the lack of quality in front of the sticks, both in defence and midfield. A formation that seem to work, but then went down the drain after several games. This has been going on now since Hasenhuttl.

Absolutely, most goalkeepers would look suspect with our defence in front of them. Having said that good goalkeepers organize the defence around them, trouble is we haven't found one yet,and to be honest its like organizing chocolate soldiers round a fire.

We have to play the new guy. There's nothing to think about.
We have to hope that he's good, and there's only one way to find that out.
Aye,
Did you ever see the Simpsons episode where Homer says to Bart " boy, you must never rely on hope alone. If you want something badly, do your homework, make your plan and work like a dog to achieve your ambitions. Now shut up , they're about to announce the lottery numbers."
I'm sure you, me and most others wish him all the luck in the world.

You are probably right we have to play him.
But that isnt my gripe it is the fact that we if we do we are playing a keeper who is a complete unknown quantity at the level we need.
He did not impress at Doncaster and if he fails again in the next two games, then we are heading into the last week of the transfer window desperate for a keeper.
We don't have the time to find out whether he is up to standard.
If this was about an outfield player then this thread would be full of comments about Sport Republic's inept transfer strategy and how we are buying in cheaply.
But because it is about seeing a replacement for Bazunu, people are not bothered and just saying lets see what he can do and making snide comments about my love of Bazunu

Re your last sentence.
There isn't exactly a whole lot of widespread love on here for Alex McCarthy.
So it isn't something levelled just at Bazunu.
It's just that (when not injured) he has played more games than McCarthy, so he becomes more of a target for frustration.

Dismay about Solak's recruitment strategy is hardly news.
The club has brought in another inexperienced player who might turn out to be useless. Let's see.
You'd think that Solak would learn his lessons at some point - how long did D Downes last (£7 million !!) - but they don't seem to.
But there have been a few hits, so let's hope this keeper is one of them.
Certainly, getting shot of Bazunu was the right thing to do. He made one or two spectacular saves but he let him far too many that looked very very soft.

Spors is the problem. He's a chancer.
Damion Downs was known to him when Downs played in Germany. Same goes for this new winger we're looking at who plays in France. Spors knows him from his days playing for St. Pauli in Germany. Likewise, again, this new keeper - known to Spors from his days at Bayern Munich.
He got it right with Leo Scienza who, guess what, was playing in Germany. Time will tell on the other signings if they materialise. But if they're not known to Spors from his days working in Germany - then they're not on our radar it would seem.

I Genuinely believe Nick is on a wind up. He knows Baz needed replacing, just not with some unknown punt. But thats the Sport Republic way. They very rarely goe for experience its not their way - they are far to clever for that.

As you say, they've got to play the new guy. He's been bought to replace Baz who was regarded as our number 1 keeper so the new guy must play. What he's like none of us know & I'm sure SR don't know if he's any good but he's cost us nothing, that's SR's logic. Seems a weird one to me, ship out your 1st choice keeper & replace him with a complete unknown. Shades of " Ali Dia" here. Perhaps the new guy will start & get substituted at half time & we never see him again.
