The Stephens block was the highlight of the match. In fact, it's between him and Bednarek who was the man of the match for us. They only allowed Fulham 3 shots at our goal in the whole match. In midfield we were OK, without really creating much but up front the combination of Adams and Long looked poor. Long was constantly standing in an offside position. A bit pissed off with that result. These are the teams we have to beat in order to keep us in the upper reaches.
On the plus side; a clean sheet. Defence did very well against a lively Fulham. Brilliant block by Jack Stephens the last kick of the game.
All in all - a very 'meh' performance & result. A point is a point... but good teams always manage to eek out a 1-0 win in games such as that one. Hope we improve up front for West Ham on Tuesday.

That is a game we should have won. Fulham are improving, but table doesn't lie.
They had a number of good chances, where they should have scored.
Too many players were average today and we lacked that fluid passing, with too many going astray.
The offside goals were unlucky, otherwise we rarely troubled their keeper (other than JWP's free kick).

Absolute disgraceful performance. Clean sheet and a point away from home by a depleted side clearly not good enough. Ralph clueless with his subs and what was Stephens doing at the end throwing himself in front of a goal bound shot. He really is a liability. |
Fulham were poor, and there for the taking. What the hell was the thinking behind bringing on two strikers at the end of the game, one with just two minutes to play? Didn't Hassenhutl want the three points?
Walcott has been pairing up very well with Adams, so why put Long in there? He was in offside or near offside positions a lot of the time, possibly because he knows he no longer has the pace to cover those extra couple of yards.
It was annoying to watch - Fulham's current position was reflected in their play and with a bit of earlier substitution we could have had all the points.
Inevitably, Fulham came close to winning it at the end - but not quite close enough thanks to a great block by Stephens.
I still wonder about Hassenhuttl's team selection and substitutions at times. Strange.
Fulham fans are also probably wondering why Mitrovic wasn't brought on earlier as well.

Agreed. This is the same Fulham team that also drew with Liverpool in their last game, so people saying it's a bad result are being a bit unfair. They are fighting for their PL status and I thought they gave us a good game. We have injuries, we hit the bar, 2 disallowed goals, should have had a penalty, so apart from wishing we had a bit more luck today to get the win, I'm also happy with a point. Because we are going through a rough patch with injuries and finding goals hard to come by. It happens to teams every season.
If you can avoid defeats in times like that it’s a good thing.
West Ham are a good, strong side who tw@tted the likes of Wolves and Leicester, and held other top 6 sides to draws.

In recent games we have looked toothless and lacking any cutting edge up front and it is starting to cost us. If you don't score you are asking your defence and goalkeeper to have a perfect game and that is asking alot but they are the ones that will get criticised if we lose.
Long has always been pretty toothless. Yes he was an engine once and that was the value of keeping him in a team - he may not score but he could create, but now it is difficult to see what he brings to the team except for a few brief moments.
Adams needs to be a bit more than just hard working. He was purchased as a striker and he needs to strike more often than he does.
All that said, with the level and depth of experience of the squad and the number of key players we had out today most teams (except your big teams with large expensive squads) would miss them. It was never going to be easy and at least we did not lose but I fear for our chances against West Ham and Liverpool which if we lose both them will start looking like a bad run.
I give Ralph credit for not moaning about the injuries and getting on with it. I do think his achilles heel though is the use and timing of substitutes.
