Would be ideal

He is a regular in the England squad, Southgate loves him as he doesn’t cause any trouble despite getting little game time.

Why on earth would he want to leave Wolves for us?

We only appeal to players in their early 20’s (or younger) who can’t get in their own club side and see us as a stepping stone to the big payday.

He may want to come if he’s going to play every week, seeing as the World Cup is coming and he probably won’t be starting for Wolves.

A perfect target for Saints even as a season loan

In fact, it’s pathetic and massively weird if we aren’t making enquiries for him

Not our business model, is it?

They did it for Walcott, which was an utter disaster and I suspect won’t be repeated in a hurry.

"Why on earth would he want to leave Wolves for us?"

He'd play 38 games if fit, and may go to Qatar

Good, experienced English defender and just what is needed.
We all know it won't happen though.

I would imagine that virtually every club outside the top 4 would love to sign him.

And Saints…..

He would be perfect. Good leader, experienced, and actually a very good player. Of course he would be hard to get but we should at least throw our hat in the ring.
As for Walcott...
I honestly think someone should be disciplined for that decision. At Arsenal he spent as much time injured as playing and that was in his prime. Finally they lost patience and flogged him to Everton where he was no better and barely played. Then some cretin at Saints thought that bringing him here on a massive wage was a good idea. Everyone in football knew that he would spend most of the time injured. Even when fit he wasn't selected so what was the point.
I really don't buy the stuff about being a role model for the youngsters. Players are highly professional these days and are well prepared by the coaching staff.
Paying him huge wages and never playing him was a ridiculous situation. I would love to know who's idea it was.

Bloody hell, even a club likes Wolves has two CBs who the manager views as better than Coady who is streets ahead of all 5 CBs we have!

Yes that's the worrying thing, sounds like Everton are favourites to bag him. He would be perfect for us, he's been Wolves version of JWP a real mainstay of the team, loads of games and worked his way into the England set up.

Everton are in talks to sign him. Should also be signing two midfielders today (Gueye and Obonna). Throw in McNeill, Tarkovski and Vinagre plus loans for Broja and Gilmore and it would be a decent window for Everton.

You can only have two loans so I doubt he will be one of them. Expect Broja to be one of them though. I think the Everton squad will look significantly different at the end of this transfer window.

You said a month or so ago that Everton had no money, add to that the sanctions imposed by the Premier League on signings, how have Everton suddenly become so minted

Absolutely no idea. They have sold Richarlison and have got Delph, Sigurdsson and Tosun off the wage bill. Plus Juve have to pay 32 million for Moise Kean. I understand the Guyue deal will be paid using the balance PSG owe Everton for the final installment of his transfer to them.

I’m sure it’s all above board and with EPL approval.

Ralph seems to favour attack as defence
Although that’s pretty shoddy too
Once again our failure to spend money in a decent CB is gonna cause all sorts of problems
It really is staggering

Maybe wait til the window shuts before deciding who we have or haven't signed? For all we know they're working on it.

Coady apparently signing for Everton this week for an initial £12 million plus add-ons.

Absolute bargain.

Everton will have signed 2 proper experienced English CB’s in this window if they get him.

They won’t be finishing below us this season.

We'll be lucky if anyone finishes below us this season!

If you don't concede in games then you can't lose. Any manager worth his salt knows that a good team is built from the back. Sort out a good keeper & a solid defence and half your job is done.

Then there's the 'Ralph school of coaching' of course... everybody pile forward and f*ck the defensive side of things.

Old School is Cool
