Nathan Jones 08:24 - Nov 7 with 7459 viewssaint22

A rather reliable friend of mine who is connected in the Championship IE on the board at a club said this is the heavy rumour to replace Ralph

Brighton were looking at him

Done well at Luton but had little impact when he joined a struggling Stoke team.

And no Premier League experience.

Would be another Championship gamble.

But most new managers will be a gamble.

If you were Sport Republic, and your criteria was staying up this year you would appoint Sean Dyche. A miserable prospect, but the best chance of premiership survival.

Burnley were awful to watch. Not for me. Nor this fella at Luton. Never heard of the bloke at River Plate.

The river plate fella is the favourite for the club, the luton bloke is the second choice if it falls through.

Assume we've sounded out some others too but that's what i've been told.

If you think that best have a bet. You can get 12/1 on Gallardo. Nathan Jones is odds on fav.

To be honest we need to grind out results for the rest of the season and Dyche can do that

I don't gamble so won't be betting. Also i don't think that, it's what i've been told by someone completely reliable inside the club.

Personally i've got very little opinion on this, makes no difference who i want at the end of the day (and for what it's worth i want Frank) the club will get who they get.

This lot need a manager who has superior man management skills and knows what he’s talking about. I can imagine a few of these players not having any respect for Nathan Jones at all because he’s always been a lower league manager no matter how good he is, sadly. You never know, Selles might get them motivated….

Completely underwhelming appointment - apparently Jones plays a very direct brand of football.

Branfoot mark II?

Obviously will wish him the best but can't help thinking the club is trying to be really cute/clever and this could very easily completely backfire.

Not sure what proven striker is going to look up to Nathan Jones and want to sign for us.

Dyche for me.

What, Nathan Jones who's only ever done anything at Luton & was a disaster at Stoke (with a win percentage of 15.8)? That looks like a far bigger gamble than buying a new striker in the window & sticking with Hasenhuttl.

Still, Saints claim that they're always monitoring prospective managers so we can only hope that they know what they're doing.

And they looked at what a disaster he was at Stoke and decided he wasn't good enough for them.

Let's hope we do the same and get Gallardo.

Remember we tried this sort of appointment before.
We appointed Paul Sturrock.

My good friend who is a long-time Luton STH seems to think Jones is coming here and will be completely out of his depth, sadly. Apparently has a big work ethic and won't play anyone that doesn't buy in.

He would have played alongside Alex McCarthy at Yeovil, and possibly played for them against us.

Also has a big tattoo of Jesus. Not the Arsenal one.

First game, H v Blackpool FA Cup R4, 24/1/76 Exiled in Bristol.

Let's face it, we can only attract second rate investors, so why would we think we can now attract a first rate manager?

Poll: Which manager would you prefer Saints to have?
