Even for me , a strange risky appointment , personally I am a Sean Dyche fan , and believe that he could have done a good job at St Marys , like the amazing job that he did at Turf Moor, plus has proven premiership qualities. Once NJ was announced as manager - I thought OK give him a chance .............. I THINK EVERYONE would NOT have given him any chance - with what football garbage ,we had to endure in the first 3 games! Again I said just " Give him a chance " as there were enough games to turn things around --- and slowly but surely things started to improve - And the Man City win was amazing -- so they proved to themselves that they could produce a winning team.Yes things could go "tits up " but I think that we have all seen enough , for us to stay up. Ralph H , let's face it, did a good job for us , until he seemed to run out of ideas! ,and looked completely lost on the touchline . Being German he had little carisma or any flair - and I found him pretty dull -- Now on the other hand we have Jones - excited , enthusiastic - jumping up and down with his coaches on the touchline ...... AND best of all hugging his team and is totally interacting with all of them - something that we haven't seen for many a year. Â
I always say COYSaints ...... as unfortunately Saint for me will ALWAYS be playing in RED & White striped shirts with black shorts, whereas just lately --- sadly there are no stripes and hardly any red.I maybe an traditionalist - but feel they could dress our team in a more modern way!!
His new lease of life just shows how Hassenhutl's game plan for him was slowly destroying his enthusiasm.
Probably more to do with the return of Lavia giving JWP licence to get forward.
Saints' fortunes shouldn't rest on the presence of a 19 year-old but in the PL games when Lavia's started we've picked up an average of 1.0 points per game; when he was out injured it was 0.4.
We were all to keen to criticise the appointment of NJ but we should all applaud him for what he's achieved in the last 3 games, but this improvement could have just been a belated honeymoon for him. There's still a long way to go & lots of points to play for & we'll probably need at least another 23 points to stay up. So I personally will judge him at the end of the season. I do agree with a previous post saying he should smarten himself up instead of presenting himself as a Sunday morning Pub Team manager.

Yes indeed.There weren't a lot of smiles earlier in the season, but then I don't think Hassenhutl had a sense of humour or any clue at all how to praise his players, only blame them for his mistakes. At the risk of repeating myself, I always knew there was a good squad in there, three wins in a week must count for something....never seen Djenepo looking so happy....contrast that with how Ings and a couple of others looked before they left the club. Then it was 'in Ralph we trust' and he could do no wrong, even after conceding 18 goals in just two games.

He can turn up in a pink tutu and fishnets for all I care. What actually matters is what he can get out of the players and if that is more goals than their opponents more often than not then he can do as he jolly well pleases!
I think there is a lot of snobbery on here about NJ - People say he should smarten himself up, he should take PR lessons for his interviews, he should stop saying "God willing". Do people want to turn him in to another anodyne manager in the Southgate mould?
Ralph was the proverbial sophisticated European manager, the sort you could share a glass of wine with, and I wanted him to see the season out to give us our best shot at survival, but he was tired and his enthusiasm had waned, if we had replaced him with similar many on here would have been happy, instead we get a chavvy looking Welsh upstart from Luton with a feistiness you don't often see in the Premier League and that appears to have ruffled some of the genteel feathers on here.
The pragmatic among us know his one job is to get results, we don't have to like him, but if he brings success, we most definitely will....
I wholly disapprove of what you say and will defend to the death your right to say it.

I like the guy. Love the press conferences too. You can tell he's willing to learn. I liked his comment after the City win that he was going to celebrate for10mins and then return home to study Everton until 3am. It certainly paid off.

My comments on Ralph were a statement not a defence, I recently saw a clip of him celebrating after his first game in charge against Arsenal and was shocked at how much younger he looked 3 years ago. I think the job had taken it's toll on him.

I reserve judgement on Nathan. I want him to succeed because why wouldn't I. But I do recall Ralph being a breath of fresh air with his enthusiasm. I must admit (and I am not going to be a hypocrite) but I was not convinced by Nathan Jones appointment and thought it was the wrong decision. His first few games hardly dispelled that feeling but the last week has had me eating humble pie and that is great and long may it continue.
I still think we have to be one of the prime candidates for relegation because we need a sustained run to get out of it and pull away, but if we keep in touch with the pack and at least put up a fight to the end of the season at least that will give us hope whether it is in the PL or the Championship and hopefully something to build on.
I do think the owners have been making the right noises in the last week. Whether they are hollow words or of substance I guess none of us know and time will tell but if they are working towards a more sense of direction and foundation for a brighter future then that has to be something to hang on.
I was a Ralph fan but for a large part of last season and this he was not the same manager and had clearly lost his way.
