5 Things About West Ham 09:42 - Apr 3 with 4307 viewsSaintNick

1. Getting into the ground was awful, through airport style gates and then metal detected in the front and back, it took 15 minutes to get through this and this was just to get on the outer concourse, you don't have this at other London grounds, so why this one, it wasn't even that efficient, women put their hand bags on a table and these weren't scanned.

2. The atmosphere was terrible, it was like watching football in a morgue, if ether set of fans sang anything it just floated out of the stadium, you couldnt hear the Saints fans in the upper tier behind us let alone West Ham fans.

3. VAR is used in the wrong way, it should be set a time limit of 60 seconds, if it can't tell in that time then a decision has to stand, it has to be clear and obvious.

4. 1 hr 40 mins on a so called fast train from Southampton to Waterloo, back in 1895 the train time for the same journey was an hour and 5 minutes, its a shambles

5. If we had Van Dijk and Fonte in this side we would not be in trouble but up in the top10

I was at the game Saturday and I didn't boo. They wouldn't have heard me if I did. But I certainly didn't clap them. In my view, you clap to say well done. I can't say well done to those bottlers, when it's undeserved. They arn't giving blood, sweat and tears. Everton players were booed and even stopped on the street in their cars. This can be interpreted as passion, love, and care for the club. The Everton players responded in the next game. Just maybe they thought "f@ck, we have a responsibility to these passionate fans, it means the world to them, we need to get our finger out". It didn't harm them, despite the new manager. In my view a kick up the backside is needed sometimes, not constant well done when it's not deserved. Then there's many of our fans just standing there clapping and smiling. That breeds laziness and acceptance in my view.

You might of enjoyed it more if you went on sunday !!!!

The threats and intimidation by Everton fans in the streets around Goodison was totally unacceptable behaviour.

I don't think there were any Saints fans smiling after the game sunday.

I think I would have enjoyed it more, if I went Saturday to be honest!! Sunday was very depressing! In all seriousness, some of the Saints fans were stood there smiling and clapping, which brings me back to my original point. Show a bit of passion, "anger" and annoyance. Maybe the players might realize what effect they are having on people with their lazy performances of they saw that rather than clapping and smiling.

Fair enough. I wish i'd have gone on the saturday too.

If you saw Saints fans smiling after the defeat, then that's unacceptable.

I don’t think there is an Everton fan with half a brain cell that thinks okay to hassle players in the street, stopping their cars etc. For me it was a massive low and an embarrassment on the club. It didn’t galvanise the players either because they went down to West Ham the following week and out just as bad a performance in against an equally as bad opposition, getting beat 1-0.

Then they brought Dyche and won 1-0, a game they’d have lost comfortably under Lampard.

Sometimes I stay til the end just to give them the dogs abuse they deserve..
We have 50 60 year old me , mates of mine happy clapping like school kids.
I sang we’ll support you ever more as a school kid at Watford after a 7-1 league cup defeat.
That was appropriate .
At 58 it just isn’t 🤷‍♂️

There's a section of our support that thinks it's somehow impressive, or makes them better if they stay to the end and clap the team.

I'd never boo during games and as a few know on here i'm a noisy f*cker when we're playing, but i'm not going to stand by and accept the performances are worthy of anything other than abuse when they're sh*t.

In 2005 when we went down i can remember the players walking over to us in the away end at Fratton and getting so much abuse they turned and walked away from it.

That's where we are now, and that performance at West Ham should've had a similar reaction from our fans, but instead we get happy clappy niceness from people who think football is a day out.

Personally i say f*ck that, they're embarrassing us and our city and deserve pelters for being inept.

I remember this also happening at Prague away.

Wasn’t much happy-clapping that night after the game; as poor old Shane Long would confirm.

Amazing how a few pints of Czech lager in the daytime can focus the mind…..

Don't know if anyone noticed when the Liverpool players went over to clap their fans after being battered by Man City last weekend, they're were only about150 scousers left in the ground, they get a bit of stick the Mickeys, but they're not stupid.

West Ham tonight only had a handful of fans left in the ground at the final whistle, they're not stupid either when watching such rubbish.

You make a good point and takes me back to my original point. Other clubs' fans don't take any sh!t. They demand and expect more. Our fans should be walking out in disgust too. Enough is enough. The whole club, the owners, the board, the players treat us like sh!t. They don't deserve to be clapped. They should know we are disgusted. But unfortunately, we have many happy clappy fans who make the club and players comfortable, and so we have more of the same sh!t.

That performance and result cost the Czech economy a small fortune.

Had we won that game (and thus qualified for the next round), the partying would have continued to the early hours, but after the game, most who bothered to go for a beer, only had a couple and retired early doors (or pursued other recreations !!).

I remember Long looking particularly puzzled as to why the team were getting such abuse, obviously forgetting that fans had travelled from afar to watch that shitshow of a performance from a typical Puel weakend Europa team.
