Strange how the tide has turned against Selles so quickly and yet another manager deemed not good enough by the supporters, personally I would see sacking him as a bit too much, however I would like to see an experienced assistant brought in, when you look at our coaching staff on the official site it is no wonder why we have struggled all season

I don't think the question would be being asked if either 23 points had already seen us relegated (which in a normal season at this stage, I'm pretty sure it would) or if it was very clear that Selles was an excellent choice to bring us back up.

For me, all the signs are that Selles is not going to get us the points we need. Saturday's result was so grindingly predictable and there were really very few positive signs.

It would be a bold, and perhaps unfair, move to sack Selles now but if there is any chance that doing so could help us with our slim survival chances, I would make the change even at this very late stage of the season.

To not play any strikers at all on Saturday in a must-win winnable game was a fairly heinous offence.

He talks utter nonsense in press conferences etc.

There is no point in keeping him; the players look like they have been told not to attack the opposition.

100% yes
Maybe another manager will try and win games or at least get the crowd excited with attacking football
I have never been so angry after the gam e against palace, no threat, backwards and side ways football
And when tall Paul came on we only put in one cross

It's almost as if the boardroom circus want the parachute payment and be able to sell off some players.
On the pitch it certainly looks that way. Didn't anyone in the management team notice (for example) that playing Ward Prowse further forward resulted in a few goals. Or did they just forget that it happened?
Or were told to. I doubt we'll ever find out, but if it was the case that team selection was coming from above, then they should be sued for fraud.

If 73 year old Roy can have such an effect on Palace after they haven't won in 11 games, then I'd give Sam Allerdice a shot, he's another cunning old fox who's got his head screwed on. It's more of the same or an old pro. What have we got to lose!!!

As I see it the players are the ones out on the pitch and as such are the ones to blame. JWP in my opinion has passed too many times sideways or backwards in the course of a game. If he goes he will be easily replaced as anyone at that level can take free kicks and corners. Unfortunately Selles did persevere with Ely and now with Theo. Keep with Selles as I think it will be too late for a new manager.

He should be in jail.
If he’s manager of Southampton FC you won’t see me anywhere near.

You cant completely blame the players,of course we have some that are not up to the job,but its all to often like we put a lot of tugs out to sea to fight the Bismarck with the battleships left in port.

That would achieve absolutely nothing Nick. The problem with Uselles is that he has a fixed idea of how to play and isn't smart enough to work with a squad of limited ability and no belief in what he has asked them to do. How would an assistant be able to change any of that?

The only way it works is if the assistant takes over and changes the whole approach, in which case he's not an assistant. In reality, Selles would block any change such as playing more directly because he doesn't believe in it. How could he say in press conferences that he doesn't believe in any other approach and then turn around implement another approach on the pitch? This is why the only way forward is without Selles.

Why is it always the supporter's fault for you Nick? Never the club eh? Can't criticise them now can you lol.

'deemed not good enough by the fans' - No Nick, he's just not good enough full stop. What the fans think has nothing to do with it.

It's a shame he's never played football in his life or we could try him out as our new No.9.

Mind you, even though he's never played football before, he couldn't do much worse than our current strikers.

PS I wonder how he's able to demonstrate football skills to the players in training. I guess he shows them videos on a laptop. It must seem odd to them being coached in football by someone who's never played football. Would you take driving lessons from someone who's never driven even if he could show you where he wanted you to go on Google maps?

Yes, he did. He played for Gateshead before his playing career was ended by an injury. Before that he was in Newcastle's youth system.
