Hopefully that will put to bed the press obsession with him becoming the Everton manager.

No doubt he will end up in Saudi managing a team with crowds smaller than Totton’s.

More to the point this thick breed of ex internationals make poor managers

Poll: Has the Ross Stewart deal already paid off as Nick says?

Cant really disagree with you there, more and more it is the managers who have come from an average or lower playing career that succeed as managers.

Perhaps it is because they haven't spent their entire lives as players stuck up their own a***s thinking the world owes them a living

Not sure how long his contract is at Brum but I'm sure he'll be paid the remainder of his contract so he won't need a begging tin & he'll have another highly paid job in football within a month.
This is just another example that the incentive in football is to fail, managers & players know that once they've signed that contract they are guaranteed an excellent income for a long period.
Alright not all managers or players want to fail & get sacked, probably the majority want to do well.
But these long contracts & ridiculous salaries give them financial security that none of us would ever be lucky enough to experience.
It is not surprising that some just don't have the hunger & desire to give there all.

Totally agree, they seem to have the right ‘people’ who have the press in their back pocket and elevate their credentials far exceeding their ability.

And if the management gig doesn’t work out, they have the chance to talk nonsense as a pundit.

Birmingham were 6th in the league when they sacked their manager & appointed Rooney.

Another example of clueless owners with dreams of grandeur.

According to my blues mate there were minimum performance targets set in his Contract so they were not liable to pay him when he failed?

That's unusual bet very sensible.
Wish we had done that with our last few managers instead of continuing to pay them after they've gone.

Actually that's not true. Given the smaller number of elite level players they are over-represented at the top level of management. Out of the "big 6" in England, 3 of them, Guardiola, Pochettino and Arteta could claim to have been elite level players. The same is true around Europe with say Ancelotti, Luis Enrique and Inzaghi from the biggest clubs all having been elite players.

But one thing that does seem to make a difference is if they were elite level strikers, like Rooney. Very few of them make it as managers. Inzaghi is the one exception above. Strikers tend to have a very narrow view of the game. All you have to do is listen to Shearer and Wright on MOTD to realise that.

Come on Birmingham, stick it out. We usually do, with awful managers, and look where it's got us! Just think how lucky you'll be with Ralph Hassenhutl. According to many Saints fans he's a great manager.
