If this is truly the value we have set for him, he will be playing here next season or perhaps on strike as no way in hell we will get £100m for him.

Well, if that doesn't sum up the delusional nature of SR's business model, I don't know what does.

Didn't realise he had German agents.

Maybe he'll end up at Dortmund.

He could do far worse.

Not the faintest chance in Hades that we will get £100m - it's all posturing.

If we get between £20m and £30m, we should be pleased.

Completely disagree.

That would put him at the Sulemana level.

Given the size of clubs who he is being linked with, it should be £40 million as an absolute minimum.

He's clearly a great talent, but has hardly set the world alight for us. A few pieces of brilliance here and there, but a lot of completely anonymous appearances too.

I don't blame the lad for this btw; he's young, inexperienced and has been chucked in the deep end much sooner than he should have in a proper crap side. Can't be good for him in any way, other than it's put him in the shop window I guess.

Anyone buying him is paying for his potential and it's hard to value that. He will be worth serious money in a year or two imo, so I understand the club not wanting him to go for his realistic value, which is probably around £20-£30m as things stand.

If we sell a 19 year old kid who's only played half a season, and only scored 2 goals, no matter how good he potentially is, for north of £60m then all it shows is how completely f*cking broken football is and the utter pointlessness of most clubs even trying to compete in the sport

I agree 40 million at the most or maybe, a cut price 25 million now from Spurs but 50% of any fee when they sell him to a really big club.

I am going to go out on a limb here and actually defend SR’s stance on this one (first time for everything 😀). Is it bonkers? Yes, but, SR are simply doing what every overseas club does when a PL team comes calling for one of their players, namely, hike the price up by 5O% because it is a PL club and as the whole football world knows we are all allegedly minted compared to everyone else.
To be fair, a good number of us on here have criticised the way these big clubs operate and the unfairness of the situation they have created thanks to the eye watering sums of money that they have access to, so, why not adopt the stance and rinse the buggers for every penny we can get out of them. From memory Liverpool wanted Lavia for sub £30m, we got over £50m from Chelsea with Liverpool allegedly ready to cave in but not quick enough to cough up (yes, I know City had a cut) so why not put a stupid price tag on TD’s head then if he must go get every last penny out of the mega rich club that is willing take the risk. And as I said at the start, yes, I do understand it’s a bonkers price to ask and one we won’t achieve but what the hell?

Poll: Who will mathematically relegate us this season?

Do i think SR are doing the "right" thing. Yes
Do I think that much money for an unproven young player is f*cking mental. Yes
Do I think this is just another example that football is catastrophically f*cked as a competition. Yes

The points of view aren't mutually exclusive.

In fact you can also extend that to the fact that us getting £100m (we won't) for a single player, plus getting parachute payments will massively skew our chances in the championship of promotion.

But i also think that's a prime of example of how rotten the game has got. Because we can be an absolutely failure of a club and yet start next season with a massive benefit.

Like i say the game is rotten to the core, corrupted by money and greed, and needs to collapse to get better

Whilst I agree entirely, I cannot see the collapse ever happening. Years ago (ITV) I think it was had the rights to games below the PL ~ Didn’t that / they hit the skids and things went pear shaped for lower Division clubs for a while?

Sadly the PL is not in any way shape or form a truly English affair anymore. Let’s face it, not one of the big six owners are truly interested in local lads or lasses turning up to watch their product, it’s all truly global with a massive American influence. Even had the big six or whatever broken away, it would be fun for a few years til the next cartel was formed.

Would love to for the whole lot go tìts, but I cannot see it. Still surprised we haven’t seen United play the Dippers in Singapore or Abu Dhabi for a PL fixture…… (it will come though). Meanwhile we will be playing Salford or Mansfield in one of the lower leagues.

Absolute bollox.
He won’t be at Southampton FC next season.
He will have to be sold to balance the books.

Have you learnt nothing from the last relegation firesale?

Last time we had JWP and Lavia to get some money in.
This time…

We thought that we had the answers, It was the questions we had wrong.

Trouble is though Pat, we could get £25 million or £100 million and either sum the doughnuts who own and run Sports Reports will waste it on young hopefuls and Championship journey men.

That’s what they did last close season and make no mistake it will happen again this time.

Two Premiership relegations in three years and on course to be the worst team ever to contest the league says all anybody needs to know about them.

Won the play off final with a team of loan players and free transfers.
The 2 players Sport Republic actually bought were failures.
Charles and Stewart.
Same transfer strategy next season?

Ramsdale £25m. Dibling £30m. Fernandes £20m. Harwood-Belis £20m. Sulemana £15m.
That’ll keep the club going next season.
2/3 £10m players will be bought.

Juric is going to have his work cut out next season!!
TRUST THE PROCESS

The money they get for Dibling, will make it all seem worthwhile for the owners. It's the classic Southampton Way they were attracted to in the first place: produce players for next to nothing in the academy and sell them for a big profit.

Unfortunately it’s the way it happens.
Sell a youngster for big bucks.
It’s when the money recouped is spent unwisely on non Premier League level players that’s the trouble.

And indeed managers.

The Championship is our level now.
Get used to it.

Not sure the Championship is either.Burnley knocked us out of the Cup and I can think of plenty of the clubs there who are better than us now.

Arguably his last few performances at at that level.

£5m to a charity of your choice if the upfront (pre add ons) price is £40m or more?

I agree with this.

We got very good prices for Lavia and Ward-Prowse when we sold them 2 years ago.

But then at the time I think we had Wilcox overseeing the sales of players, and comically mucking Liverpool about in their chase of Lavia.

We will have to see if Spors has quite the same level of cunning about him.
