1teem, I admire your positivity about all of our new managers and players, and sometimes I agree with you. I really hope you're right this time and can see more than the rest of us can because we need a good centre forward now, more than ever. [Post edited 1 Feb 17:47]

| New striker - Cyle Larin on 17:55 - Feb 1 with 855 views | HytheFerrytales | Having noodled this loan for a further 45 seconds, I now think it is a move based on an extremely sophisticated mathematical theorem that has been checked and supported by advanced AI analysis. Consider this. If you toss a coin the "probability" of tossing a head is always 50%. However if you toss 5 heads in a row (perfectly feasible) then the "chance" of tossing a head next is dramatically reduced...surely a tail is coming. So someone in SR has got a PhD in advanced statistics from Cambridge and reckons that the "probability" of Larin being a 25 goal per season striker is never more than 50%...BUT...having recruited 5 no -hopers in a row, the" chance" of him being the Messiah is far too good a punt to pass up. What say you we get him a catchy nickname, compose a witty song for him, crowd fund to pay his speeding fines and drink driving awareness courses and continue our relentless march to promotion. Pessimism shows weakness...Optimism demonstrates strength. | | | |

Yes, 50 goals in 57 games for Feyenoord when he joined us. He didn't score as many for us, but the Dutch league is easier. Both playing for Feyenoord when they joined us. He's going to be the new Pelle! So, anyway, what is Larin's scoring record at Feyenoord? Of course, we wouldn't expect him to score as many here. [Post edited 1 Feb 20:50]

I'll buy into that thinking. Based on the starting line up yesterday I'm assuming he is earmarked to back up Stewart. They aren't gonna play them together. So the punt is to get at least 70-75 minutes out of Stewart once a week, get this Larin bloke up to speed ASAP and see how the dice fall. Ideal?...No.... Got a chance of coming off?...Yep. might well do.

Dirk, I just don’t like the way everyone just repeats what everyone else says without really looking into things. He might be crap and yes it’s another gamble but his OVERALL career stats doesn’t suggest he’s crap. As for Adam Armstrong leaving he clearly didn’t want to be here anymore and wanted a new challenge. You could see that in his recent performances. [Post edited 1 Feb 22:57]

It's because we could show a little more ambition couldn't we and buy the Swansea striker, or buy the leading striker in league one. We are bringing in nearly 10 million for Armstrong, so reinvest it, rather than just bringing in a loan player from abroad that's a risk. And let's be honest, their history of bringing in strikers isn't good, so it's natural isn't it to think that the next striker signing will be wrong, just like the previous ones. If the club had a history of recruiting well people wouldn't be negative! Hopefully this signing is good and we make the playoffs. [Post edited 2 Feb 0:07]

If Archer goes as well (as is rumoured) and when Stewart gets injured again, then this footballing jobber will be the player we’re counting on to score goals. It’s hardly like Feyenoord are struggling in their league so when he plays the team aren’t creating chances. Only in SR’s world does this all make sense.

I hope you're right 1teem but let's look at Larin's overall career stats Cyle Larin played in Canada & USA between ages of 18 & 21 scoring 43 goals in 87 games in a league that at that time was equivalent to L1/2 Moved to Besiktas between ages of 21 and 25 and scored 31 goals in 83 games (had one good season where he scored 19) in a league where Onuachu scored 30 goals in 52 games at the age of 29 -31 From the age of 26 to date he went on loan in Belgium for Waregem, played for Club Brugge, Valladolid, Mallorca and Feyenoord and scored 10 goals in 67 games Total 84 league goals in 237 games which sounds good at 1 goal every 2.8 games but you have to take into account he scored 74 goals between the ages of 18 and 26 and only 10 goals between the ages of 26 to 30 So, he scored 88% of his goals between 2014 and 2022 and 12% of his goals from 2022 to 2026 plus he’s had 3 injuries already this season This just sounds like another shocking SR striker signing
