Absolutely. With sh1t players he'd be about as successful as Vincent Kompany or Rusty in the PL.
The difference is that, if he was given Man City's players, the Shrewsbury manager would not have been so successful as Pep. There are plenty of managers who've been given good players and still failed. | | | |

I think we know Pep couldn't have done it without the players, so he couldn't have done it without the money - and the money was only there due to dodgy practices. It's clear already that they broke the spirit of the rules, the issue now is whether they broke the technicalities of the rules, or whether their massive investment in lawyers pays off. We won't really learn much from the City judgement other than who won the technical argument with the PL. On a moral basis they're already guilty of dodgy practices and UEFA have already convicted them of financial rule breaches. The only thing we'll learn is whether the punishment will fit the crime.
With us it's a bit different because we don't know much about what happened. It's clear to any reasonable observer that young Salt probably broke the rules. The issue is how deeply the club itself is also implicated and how harsh the punishment should be. If the club are as open about this as they should be after the verdict, we should learn a lot more about what actually happened. Until then, fingers crossed. | | | |
