I’ve not been, but every single one of my mates who has (including skates) all say the same - a very unfriendly bunch (to put it mildly) which is why as a club I’ve no respect from them, which is a shame given their pedigree...
I just remember as a kid seeing Kenny Hibbit in his black and gold with his long greasy black hair and mexican bandit moustache. He looked like a horrible little weasel so I immediately took a dislike to Wolves.
I was there for the 6-2 midweek game in 1976 but missed the 6-0 in 2007.
What I remember about night games in the 60s and 70s is how dark they were. Floodlights were less powerful in those days and there was far less lighting around the grounds.
Do you remember the outrage when John Petersfield Westwood got chased outside Molyneux and had his clown hat and bell taken from him? There was a lot of whingeing on pompeyfans online about how nasty the Wolves fans were.
Tango, the celebrity Sheffield Wednesday fan, is from Wolverhampton and he still lives there. I once ended up sitting behind him at an England game. He kept trying to start songs about Roy Hodgson, which nobody would join in and he became increasingly agitated about it. Fortunately, it was cold so there was no smell emanating from the mountain of flesh.
I haven't been there for decades, but it was glum to be polite. Having lived just outside of Wolverhampton, it was, very retro in its thinking and culture. Hopefully, the naked racism has declined in the intervening years. I worked in a factory location within a large "non-Anglo" area, but none of the 1,000 plus employees lived within the immediate vicinity. Most of my colleagues didn't see anything amiss with this.
I went the year saints won 4 1 at Wolves when Sturrock had just taken over. Wolves were destined for relegation. It was particularly nasty after the game outside the ground and our fans had to be protected and escorted back to the coaches.

To be fair to the Saints fan he gave a good account of himself.
I notice the cowards who attacked him in numbers while his back was turned didn't have much affect. The little one at the end who threw a punch didn't look like could swot a fly.

I remember Westwood getting a good pasting up there, I think they stole his bell too - shame they didn’t try and shove it up his arse (wide end first). He would have been a bell-end then both metaphorically AND physically.
Also is that where the book-flogging dimwit fell through he roof of one of their stands?
Wolves had a tea part on the northam estate but ended up forgetting their tea bags and battenburgs, they looked right mugs i've been led to believe
There was a fight by the garage and then they went into the wrong pub on the way out of town after that game and got what they went looking for in there. The video put up was the away game there the next season when they decided they wanted a bit of revenge. Was a bit nawty on the way to the ground that day as well as after.

The whole place is unfriendly to outsiders. The only place I went to last season where the policy is a complete ban on away fans in every pub in the city centre. Luckily a few of my mates had sourced a welcoming pub in a residential area not too far from the ground the previous season, and staff and customers were all very friendly pre and post match again, even though some of us had colours on!! I think it was run by a Polish Couple and their All Day Breakfasts were the biggest I've ever seen!!
After the cup game in 2003, a bus load thought it would be a good idea to stop off at The Elephant and Castle in Sholing on their way back. They went in, intent on tearing the place up, and got mercifully beaten by the locals.
Only time I went to Molyneaux was back in 1966 when were mid table and had just signed David Webb who scored in a 1-1 draw. About half a dozen of us went there to support the Saints in a relatively small away support. The team then went on a long unbeaten run including the famous 1-1 draw with Leyton Orient in the penultimate away game and this led to our first ever promotion to the top division.
Thats a good name for Westwood, perhaps John Petersfield Born & Bred Westwood has a ring about it
You can't really get a much more middle class profession than being an antiquarian bookseller in an affluent country town like Petersfield. That's why he has to try so hard to put on that working class act.
His parents moved to Petersfield from London. Basically, he has nothing to do with Portsmouth. I wonder which London team his father supported?

Must have taken a few up to the game to game in 1966, club ran a football special according to the programmes I’ve got
