OK Ronald, come on back 07:13 - Oct 28 with 1877 views | saint68 | As he's now jobless and we're sort of stuck in a groundhog day scenario with Ralph, would anyone prefer to have Koeman back? Now I really was disappointed when he left and was very rude about him at the time but I'd have him back this afternoon if possible...it was a great match for us and him until them nasty Toffees stole him away. And oh to see him mocking the coont Klopp again..one of the greatest moments in recent years.

We've won 5 games in a calendar year though.

OK Ronald, come on back on 09:17 - Oct 28 with 1331 views | kingslandstand1 | I seem to recall that although we liked his football and we were top 8 team, he was also one that didn't have a plan B and his substitutions were sometimes criticised and where have we heard that from a few locals recently

Oh, and we couldn't afford him with the dosh he must have been on over the last few years

OK Ronald, come on back on 11:11 - Oct 28 with 1265 views | Kennington | I’d take him back without any hesitation. Saints and Koeman was a great fit and for a time he seemed to enjoy being at the club. Not sure he’s enjoy the current regime though as everything has deteriorated since his time with us. Not sure he’s a great manager and actually a bit surprised his name is linked with Man U. There are surely a few too many failures on that cv now for a genuinely big job.

There is absolutely no chance of Koeman going to United, he’s a failed manager, his last three months at Everton was spectacularly bad and he’s now stunk the gaff out at Barca. His record pre-Saints was hit and miss although he did well at Saints, maybe working well with less pressure and lower expectations especially after the firesale summer he walked into. Maybe as others have said, he and Saints were a good fit. He certainly seemed to enjoy himself around Ocean Village and Oxford Street as did his family.
OK Ronald, come on back on 12:01 - Oct 28 with 1225 views | blambo | I believe he left because we would not invest to support our run in Europe. He ended up a Club that is basically bankrupt and sold players to survive. Why would he join Saints when there's no serious money to spend on the team and we still sell our best players?

Whoever the next manager is will end up getting stick for not having a plan B, useless substitutions, picking the wrong players, not knowing what they are doing etc. It’s on all of their job specs.

He left because Everton offered to make him something like the 4th highest paid manager in the World if my memory is correct, he knew the situation at Saints when he arrived and at the point he left he had strong squad. At the time he was a good fit in that he was a name manager who excited the fans, but it was always going to be short term, that proved to be the case when we were stuffed for youngsters etc coming through. Now we need someone who is in it for the long haul in a difficult tough situation, Hasenhuttl has proved to be that man, sack him but where does that leave u ? The answer is in exactly in the same boat, a new manager wont have any more money to invest than Hasenhuttl, so who will take the job, probably only short term careerists who use us as a stepping stone such as Koeman or Pochettino were or those out of work and looking for a job such as Eddie Howe whose enthusiasm is based solely on the fact we are near his home

Stick will also be handed out to Gao for having not provided the money to buy players and the manager will also get stick for not having spent the money he didn't get on players

He definitely was the architect of Keoman leaving in the manner he did...Les Reed was a control freak and basked in the Southampton Way glory on different media platforms until he scuttled off .
| |
OK Ronald, come on back on 14:14 - Oct 28 with 1081 views | Saintsforeverj | Koeman left Saints because of "lack of ambition" and not being able to take the team any further. Again, this thread is completely pointless. Why an earth would a manager that likes lots of money to spend, come back to a club where he doesn't have any money to spend? This is exactly the point, people don't seem to understand that we can't replace Ralph with a Koeman or Poch. Forget that. That's why Ralph is at least half decent and is the only manager in the world who accepts the lack of money to spend on the team. Koeman wouldn't accept that and being told to play young players.

Yep. Koeman hated Reed and refused to even talk to him. Any communication from Reed had to go via Koeman's brother. Reed wanted, and got, lapdog managers like Puel and Pellegrino.

Id hope the hunger and passion to prove people wrong and recoup some much deserved respect might be alluring to him..plus he loved an evening out down Oxford Street 😠

This is a manager who went to Everton for the money and all that money to spend on the team. Not a chance he would come here. If Ralph went, we would get someone half as a good as Pellegrino or Hughes. Might even get a Poortvliet who accepts such a lack of money. Think I would rather stick with Ralph. The problem here is Gao, who doesn't even know that Ocean Village or Oxford Street exist. [Post edited 28 Oct 2021 14:28]

And that's reality under this owner in an increasingly difficult premier League, where nearly every other team is spending huge amounts of money. The only teams who don't spend are Norwich, Burnley, Newcastle, Saints. Whoever is manager, they can't barely compete. Look where they all are in the league. Burnley have a higher net spend than us and most would say Dyche is a good manager? It's the lack of investment in the team, pure and simple.

Bizarre starting line ups and virtually no impact substitutions..thats solely down to Ralph..not Gao or finance..just Ralph not picking his best possible starting eleven..that is what's putting support off Ralph..lovely bloke though [Post edited 28 Oct 2021 15:01]
