He wouldn't ordinarily be my first choice, but I don't think there is much to lose by trying him. I would rather this, than some unknown, unproven punt again. It gives us time to get the next appointment right. | | | |

See how he does and if he can stop us being the worst team in top flight history I’d say he’d done a good job.

I agree I think Lallana would be a sensible choice ( but SR don't do sensible choices).
No risk & no cost.
But, we still need him as a player, albeit he's limited to his playing time, he's still probably our best player at the club. | | | |

Lallana's former captain, Jose Fonte, would be better managerial material. He'd cost very little and happily accept a short-term contract until the end of the season to start his managerial career. It's a free shot.
I guess Lallana could be his assistant, but I just don't see Lallana as having the right character to be a manager, even though he was once a great player for us. Former team mates do make good partnerships though, like Clough and Taylor. [Post edited 16 Dec 2024 9:42]

We have to start again. We have to tear down what's there and build from scratch. That means starting with the defence and that is one of many reasons why Lallana is the wrong choice - but I agree he might get the gig, because no real managers want it now. | | | |
