Had credibility until the line about Vestegaard out and Perraud & Salisu in 😉

In all seriousness we have simply become a complete basket case since ‘Sport Republic’ rocked up in town. Still, at least we can look forward to more of the same next season.

And now "Give me Sport" claim Fernandez will be shipped off to Goztepe, if that happens that could be the final straw for me putting my money in SR's pockets anymore?

To call the club a "Complete basket case" is a little unfair.

I get a lot of stick for saying so, but off the field we have improved drastically over the past few years, of course most only care about results on the pitch, but that doesn't mean that you can neglect raising income off it through sponsorship and marketing etc.

The fan zones are much maligned by some on here, personally I don't see a problem, they are not my cup of team, but this season all I see is a large number of Saints supporters socialising over a few beers, what is wrong with that.

Now SR have to get it right on the pitch, just under a year ago, everything looked rosy, a great day at Wembley and back in the Premier League, that has no imploded, but the foundations are still there and more importantly, the issues that have contributed to this, ie no Director of Football and two managers who in different ways got things badly wrong have all been dealt with.

There is no reason why with a good managerial appointment not bounce back and this time have a good chance of staying up

They haven’t got it right off the pitch as SR have cost the club 120mill in income. Last time we went down a fire sale of assets to stabilized the club. It will need something similar again when we are back in the championship. Meaning if we do go up again the squad is even weaker. They have been a disaster for the club.

Ok point taken and I understand that the club / game nowadays is far more than just what happens on the pitch. That said, and I fully appreciate this is just my take on a small world mind, but I support Saints solely for the Men’s football team. Results are, and always will be the measure of success or failure personally.

Off the field the fanzones seem to be doing well and credit / respect for that as new revenues are always required to narrow the delta between profit and loss which comes with regular relegations.

"good managerial appointment"

That is just so important and their record does not bode well. We can only hope they have learnt their lesson

Put it this way - You could have the best fanzones in the world, and a healthy bank balance, but I want one thing only, and that's Southampton FC being successful on the pitch. Most fans just want to see their team win. Put it another way, if the team is in league 2 and unsuccessful, not many people would bother going or bother buying merchandise. You need success on the pitch, to get success off it.

Are you really saying Saints are a well run business? If so, what evidence do you have?

Perhaps we should all forego the tedium of watching the game inside the stadium and the club can offer a fanzone ticket at a reduced cost. Then it will be time for the fan forums to be asking the question, can we have some decent beer please?
That way we can all get our fix of the social side of the day without having to watch any of the dross SR offer on the green stuff in their latest attempt to "get it right".

Sports Republic; owned by idiots, run by idiots.

The money is in The Premier League.
The parachute payments will cover Sport Republic’s arse for 2 seasons.

If we are still in The Championship after that then we are fcuked.

Thanks for the heads up Block 8, damned good article and absolutely spot on, I will even forgive him the bit about Vestegaard. IMO, the only way that the club can move forward is if SR just p1ss off a ruin another club. I have zero faith in them getting the next managerial appointment right because their record is pretty damned poor so far and leopards don’t suddenly change their spots. SR think they are so clever, the truth is they are doughnuts. Sounds like Parsons is no better than the previous idiot in his job from recent stuff posted on here with Liam Delap in the building at Staplewood and Parsons obstructing the signing not making it happen. The only hope is that Spors turns out to be the new Messiah and can successfully reset the club. That in itself is a monumental task and a huge ask, I live in hope but very little expectation whilst those SR gimberts are still in overall charge of our beloved club.

For a club like saints , success is purely measured on the pitch. Other than Nick, I don’t think anyone will be looking back at the early SR years, and calling them halycon days because of the fanzone they opened.

Get the manager and recruitment right and the rest falls into place.

Saints' business is football! The two are one and the same for a football club!

A baseline article for the continued failure of Sport Republic. Money spent with no clue on what makes a winning team - just dogma and delusion. Particularly interesting on the point of signing players for the sake of it: Taylor, Lallana, Fraser. What’s the wage bill of that?

I agree that Sports Republic have done some good things off the pitch and their continued support of the Saints Foundation is a real positive.
The owners have also made a decent amount of money available for transfers
However the fact of life is that apart from Ramsdale and Fernandes the signings over the past couple of seasons have been pretty disastrous.
I have been a supporter for many, many years and experienced a number of relegations and pretty average teams playing at The Dell and SMS.
Never in all my years have I witnessed my team being totally outclassed on such a regular basis as has happened this season.
