He was good today. Did the simple things well, linked up nicely, no braindead moments that I remember, plenty of pace when he needs it, has an engine on him and kept going.

I think that was the best I've seen him by quite a long way.

A very adequate replacement for Paal today. One or two misplaced passes but generally did the basics well. Must be a pleasure playing with Morrison and Edwards at centre back.

I thought he was excellent also very strong and fast plus he almost scored a stunning goal in the first half which would have been nice.
His problems early in the season were all self inflected with reckless play and it cost him a lot of playing time as we know Marti does not tolerate stupid stuff.
On todays display I would start him ahead of Paal over Easter just to see what he has to offer .Ronnie Edwards finally made a shocking bad play it did not cost us his lucky charms are still working

One good defensive header at the end, not as bad as usual. But I'm not as strong on him today as others. Thought he gave the ball away quite a bit. I'd rather we shake hands and say goodbye next month.

Me too. Maybe he learns to play a competitive and aggressive game in the future, but for now - good luck.

That was maybe the best he's played for us, and he was still too tricks-and-flicks.

You're a defender. Defend. Stop shaping the ball.

And as for that weak-ass attempt to score from Dembélé's beautiful ball...Jesus.

You seem to be in a dark mood, Brian. Not too positive on any of the potential positivity.

Yeah he did ok, that massive chance aside. It’s amazing these guys go through academies for 15 years or so and are completely incapable of using their weaker foot.

Have to see the highlights again but that chance from a beautiful pass was not easy and the keeper saved it with his legs as he was leaning away if memory serves .It was just a happy surprise to see a QPR left back sprinting into the box to meet that cross in the first place
He did also make a critical clearence late when they were gunning for the winner.
I have been a hard critic of Ashby myself Brian but today changed my mind fair play where its due.

No, I'm really happy with the performance and result, Bklyn.

Said as much too on the Match Fred. Considering what we had available to start today and to come on, with so many key players unavailable, I actually enjoyed that. Some fine football, and then some fine digging in.

Just don't think we should ever have players, or praise players, like Madsen and Ashby.

Not easy?

Bannerman, if you'd missed it in Cusack Park your entire family would have been diplomatically quiet on the way home in the car.

There'd have been no ice cream anyway.

It WAS an easy chance if he hits it with his left it rolls into the corner, tons of room there. Other than that did ok.

It's being so happy that keeps me going.

He’s a strange one.

Played well, didn’t have a massive amount of defending to do as Bristol tended to attack down our right, but did his job and that was a critical header he won at the far post near the end.

Sadly he seems to be addicted to that pass infield when we’re overloaded and always causes an almighty scramble defensively.

That said, given our season long inability to play a through ball, his passes that put Celar through at Cardiff and Watford means he gets a golden ticket from me just for that.

There’s a player there if he just sticks to the basics.

It seems I've already done that though - for both of them.

But it's all about opinions and I wouldn't be putting either of them in next season's starting 11 at this point. Madsen we know we've sunk money so that's either appealing to the Belgians, or a faint whiff of hope for us if we have to continue to develop him. And for Ashby it's felt to me like there was some sort of agreement in place all season. So far I'd send him back but thought he was good today overall.

The only other thing I'd add is, I know from experience there are things that people see on the stream that those in the stadium don't pick up, but I had Ashby four rows in front of me all first half and thought he put in a far more focused, controlled performance than he has before from that perspective. Allowing for the fluffed goal chance yes, but that's a left back fcuking it up. If he had a worse second half than I realised fair enough but he looked ok I thought.

He was okay and put a shift in for someone out of position.

What it does show is that if he's ahead of Fox, then Fox will not be here next season, as I doubt Ashby will be.

Especially as injury news out of QPR HQ talks about Dales recovery.

zzzzzzzzzz

Thought he had a good game but he is not good enough to replace Dunne or Paal next year so hopefully he won't be here next season.

An improvement for sure but then he set the bar low with previous performances.

Absolutely no way should the club be thinking about bringing him in for next season.

I think Ashby and Madsen are finally bedding in. It takes longer for some young men than others to adapt to a new working/playing environments. They've probably been the puppy's pills for most of their playing lives. Now they're playing at in a totally different level, or culture. It's taken a long time, probably for them more than us, but it's beginning to happen. Ashby's leaving I guess, but I hope he's learned something during his time here, even if it's just that he's not God's gift to football. Madsen OTOH could — I emphasise could — turn out to be a bit special. Let's hope eh?

I felt it was a very solid display and one things for sure, he doesn't lack for confidence.

If there was a reasonable chance to take him, I would.

I think the decisions to try the outrageous when the simple is neccessary, I think he will learn.

There is a player in there, definitely...

Other than the huge chance he missed I thought he was fine today playing on his weaker side. Made a great goal saving clearance near the end. On today's showing he looks a decent back-up at RB or LB.

Yeah fully agree, I actually thought he deserved MOTM as he was so improved from what we have seen previously.

A decent showing but missed a great chance by not trusting his left foot. That miss alone omits him from the MOTM conversation (which, for me, is a toss up between Dembele and Dunne).

Allright Brian I watched the highlight package and yes while his sprint into the box and anticipation was excellent his finish was very poor .Left side foot and we were celebrating for sure ,poor contact but he is a defender after all.
Speaking of Cusack Park will you be travelling up with the red rebel horde invading next Sunday its going to be some town take over.
13 goals in 3 games is serious hurling they are looking so good for the McCarthy Cup right now
