Due to having to get up at 6.30 am to leave home at 7am, to check in at 7,30am for a coach that leaves at 8.30 am and arrives at Portsmouth at 9.15 am I need to put up this thread now.

Much better game than the last one, think we are shading it so far.

Plus another James Bree hairstyle debuting today.

Going hiding in the first half. Scienza non existent - at one stage acting surprised when the North stand wouldn’t give him the ball for a throw in. They don’t like you ffs, they’re not going to give you the ball are they. Did anyone really tell our players what it means?

I actually think Bree and Matsuki have been stand outs thus far.

We were never the same after the subs were made. None of them contributed anything.

Fingers crossed Leo's injury doesn't keep him out too long. Loved his goal celebration today btw! Class.

It looked like Pompey's goal should have been disallowed for handball. Unfortunately, there was no VAR

I guess it will be remembered as The Hand of Cod.

Like most fans, I thought we should have started with Fellows and Stewart instead of Matsuki and Armstrong, but, when they came on, they were both awful - just not cut out for the heat of battle. So, it's just as well Eckert chose the starting lineup and not us. I guess he knows the character of his players better than we do. Pity he brought them on at all. He must have thought the heat had been taken out of the game so it was OK to send them out there.

Scienza's injury made a huge difference.

Edit: I've just seen a replay. It was a clear handball. Adams scored with the crook of his arm.

Especially considering their goal was a handball and they injured our best player, a 1-1 draw was better than most on here expected. Until those 2 things happened, we were looking good for a win.

Overall, not many on here would have predicted we'd get as many as 4 points from the 2 games this week.

I thought his line up was right, Fellows and Stewart would have endured some horrendous tackles early doors, they are not that robust, so to bring them on later was correct, but they made little impact when they came on...that's not Tondas fault.

Thought the keeper should have been more dominant for their goal, and put a fist on that bobbling ball.

We MARCH ON.

Schmid was impressive in goal for Pompey. He's one of the top rated goalkeepers in the Championship and he really saved them from defeat.

But, anyway, that's 5 games and 16 years we've gone undefeated against them.

The line up was fine for me.

Experience at the back.
Stewart time managed...he has been crocked 90% of his time on our books after all...Armstrong in...he is is still one of the league's top scorers.

Fellows is a decent player but I must have missed the point at which he became an un-droppable world beater.

Overall summary is that a team short on away wins recently, got an away draw at a team that hasn't lost much recently. Hate to be Harry Hindsight, but that was always a very likely outcome to me.

Hopefully nobody is deluded enough to think today was a crushing blow to our chances of promotion.

Scienza has to be the highlight of this season.
I agree, to get 4 points from our last 2 games is a sign that they’re at least fighting for the club.
A mid table finish this year would be survivable. Then hopefully we can sort it out in the summer.
I know that probably won’t happen but we as fans we can only hope.

Far too sensible Tonyfromdk - we have to continue the clear out in the summer and make some solid additions and go for promotion next year.

Today was a sign that after the Hull debacle that things have somewhat changed - players playing with heart and passion whcih has been missing for far too long.

I thought TE got it pretty spot on today - grafters in the starting eleven and mixing the playing style up. Fellows was very poor when he came on. I may be in a minority but I think he will be a very good manager for us. No point trying to debate that with the absolute tools on Saintsweb mind.

If we had a clinical striker we'd be far higher in the League. Armstrong just needs far too many chances to convert one. With a decent striker we would have been clear winners today.

Not a pretty game, low on quality, we wernt great, but at least we didn’t lose.

However the most important thing for me was the attitude of the players

On several occasions particularly we’ve just thrown in the towel at Fratton Park, but today most of the team gave it everything, back four superb and Jander and Downes great too.

Downes who’s not been great this season gave it his all, with some superb hard hitting challenges.

Shame many of these players don’t put this level of effort in every week.

Having been at the game, I am not overly disappointed. We didn't lose. It was a bear pit. A really fierce atmosphere. Would have loved to have returned to St Mary's with a victory to celebrate, but just didn't want to get beat by that lot. We held our own and stood up to the battle.

A great derby, I thought having been there. A couple of pitch invaders, a goal to celebrate, lots of hate from the stands, real tension, players having a scrap, a few objects thrown from.the stands. It was as fierce as they say. Shame.not to.win, but the f@ckers didn't beat us.

Yes, we extend our unbeaten run to 5 matches and 16 years. Pompey fans were really expecting a win today.

Could you see Adams pushed the ball into the net with the crook of his arm from where you were? VAR would have ruled it out.
