I just wish Liverpool would form their own country and leave the UK.
Bastards.
They are absolute idiots. Booing the national anthem at a time when war is taking place. And their reasoning is that the state doesn't look after them and their city. And here they are supporting their players on 400 000 plus pounds a week with all their Salah shirts and scarves. They don't like the rich 🤑
I appreciate that I am probably going to appear ignorant here, but why do Liverpool fans boo our national anthem? it is not as if they are Welsh or Scottish. I could hear it on the radio but no mention just the pundits salivating on a supposed great atmosphere brought by Liverpool fans.

They view it as part of the establishment of England which victimises them as a city. Hence the “scouse not English” crap
I’m not aware of Everton fans doing it although could be wrong, they don’t get to Wembley often I suppose

From what I have read, their fans think the state has not looked after them and is against them (Hillsborough, high unemployment etc). So they boo the national anthem as it's represents the authorities. They hate the Tories or anyone like the Queen because they are posh, have money blah blah blah. But they don't mind supporting players on half a million a week. They are their heroes. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool-fans

Thanks saintsforever and Bicester. I honestly had no idea.
As it happens I am not a great fan of our national anthem but that is to do with the fact that I don't think an anthem should be focused on an individual person but should reflect your nation as a whole. But, I would never boo our national anthem and for Liverpool fans to not recognise it comes across as self centred and all about them. There are probably loads of communities who feel frustrated with various parts of the establishment at various times.
Anyway, I will leave it there. Thanks again for your responses.

No worries, and exactly. Many cities may feel let down, but Liverpool think they are a special case with everything.

Self centred and all about them? Their motto ought to be ‘solatium est’, FFS.
Not saying I agree with the sentiment, but it is interesting. Would also suggest that a lot of them do it because it winds people up, similar to when United used to chant 'AR-GEN-TINA'
The national anthem is a dirge though. Would like it to be changed when the monarch changes

Which is even more reason to dislike them as a generalisation. I'm sure there are decent people up there, but who do they think they are. Should we bow to their every whim?

Given that according to most of those on here who slag off Liverpool do so accusing them of their support all coming from other parts of the country other than Merseyside, it would seem that it is not the scousers who booed the national anthem, but the rest of the country bar Reading, Bournemouth and Surrey were Chelsea seem to get most of their support from.
So shall we take a collective decision here as to whether we hate Liverpool because none of their fans come from up there, or because they do and all boo the national anthem.
On the question do Everton fans all feel the same way, I would say pretty much so, after all they all live in the same streets and work in the same places etc, that is of course unless we take the view held by Liverpool fans who live in the city that all Everton fans live on the Wirral or in North Wales ( OK i'm winding up Solent Toffee with the last bit)

A hell of a lot of their support DOES come from other cities though, and from abroad too. Even their own fans acknowledge the amount of "out of towners" they get.
I have no idea if those people got tickets to a cup final, you'd hope not, but I'd take a fairly good guess that there was a not insignificant amount of people who weren't from Liverpool and had no connection to the city in their end and club wembley.

So presumably a lot of those who were booing the national anthem were not scousers as per my point !
It is easy to have a go at Scousers and for that matter Man Utd fans from Manchester, but they have seen their clubs be taken away from them and sold around the World.
Go to liverpool and you will meet a lot of die hard fans who can't get tickets for Anfield anymore.
When Liverpool reach a cup final the tickets don't go to season ticket holders first, a proportion of fans who have attended virtually every game will be guaranteed a ticket, then another proportion will go to a ballot of season ticket holders and then the rest will be balloted by the club "members" spread around the world.
When Liverpool won the Champions League I knew plenty of Liverpool fans who were season ticket holders, went to every League game away and barely got a sniff of a ticket, 30 of them went and only 1 had a ticket.
He said you have to hold your tongue when you know 29 of your mates are sat in a bar 2 miles away and you are sat in the ground sat next to a father and his 9 year old son who have never been to Anfield but got lucky in the Champions League final draw, you want to say something but dont want to ruin a little kids biggest day of his life.
That is football, the Scousers & the Mancs dont want a European Super league, they know that is the end of their weekend football and even going to games, thank god we wont turn into a club like that

Well Ukrainian armed forces have been singing our National Anthem in thanks to uk help and support
Makes the scouse twà ts look more pathetic than usual.
I would have actually have thought that Liverpool fans singing You'll never walk alone, during the minutes applause for Ukraine was actually more controversial.
On one hand it was a nice gesture and an appropriate song to sing at that moment, but on the other hand it is their anthem and not Chelsea's and i'm surprised no one has accused them of trying to make the gesture to Ukraine a Liverpool thing.

Difficult to distinguish if it was in support of Ukraine or just another show of insolence from the perennial victims.
Either way they have made themselves look the victim once again...its embarrassing in all honesty.

I also said that it was a generalisation about the "Scousers" and I'm sure there are many who would not boo the National Anthem, but unfortunately that is the way it comes across with the apparent sympathy vote always being sought? Maybe go back to one of their own with Alan Bleasedale writing the now infamous (to those of a certain age) Boys from the Blackstuff and the characters in that iconic series?
It may well be a misconception in the same way that all Welsh are "sheep sha66ers" or Northerners all go round with flat caps and train whippets and racing pigeons, and Londoners all being dodgy dealers or something, but I'm afraid it is what it is
Maybe Nick, you should start a lone crusade to censor all generalisations about regional myths and character assassinations unless actual FACTS are pinned to each post with any hint of criticism?

I do find it strange how Liverpool fans have this ‘Scouse not English’ when the vast majority of their fans aren’t scousers. Certainly Everton fans don’t join in with this narrative. They as a fan base appear to have TM’d the word‘Scouse’ as though it just refers to them.
Also it’s strange for a fan base to constantly take a pop at the Tories for the decline of the city (and to be fair, for their involvement in covering up Hillsborough) but they didn’t say an effing peep when their own club allowed the area of Anfield to go into massive decline on order to develop the ground and build bigger stands to get more tourists on every week who wouldn’t even know, less give two hoots about the area/community around the ground that they attach themselves to.
I heard a group of young out of towners having a pop at Chelsea fans on the tube yesterday about Abramovich being a crook and Chelsea being corrupt unlike themselves who were a socialist club. An incredible, laughable narrative that only a cult would believe if it gets said often enough.

Im all for regional generalisations, what i do hate is where people are criticised where the criticiser has never been to the place and has not had any real dealings other than singing the same old songs over the segregation netting.
Yeah some of it with Liverpool touches a nerve about always being a victim, especially since at the time of Hillsborough for example the whole country mourned with them, now many accuse them of being victims due to the fact they stood up against the lies told at the time in the media.
If you want a comparison, when Cortese called Matthew Le Tissier a freeloader and banned him from St Mary's our supporter base did nothing, there was no outcry absolutely zilch, because Cortese had told everyone that we would be in the Champions League within 4 years .
If anyone sang that stupid song about Cortese/Italy/Pompeeee during Le Tissier's ban then they have no right to call a Scouser a whinger or a victim for standing up for themselves.
Call the scousers what you want, but let's not make every thing they do linked to being victims etc
