Not yet played a league game for Villa, only been on the bench twice and in the other 5 games he has not even been in the squad.

At the time of writing it is half tine for Villa and having completed 1 2/2 games in the League cup for Villa ie 2 hr 15 mins mins, he is still 45 minutes away from game time for Saints this season.

Rumours abound he will be loaned to a Championship club in January.

What was the point, if he had stayed here he would have formed a partnership with Schlotterbeck that would be the strongest in the division.

Now he's a player I'd happily see return, won't happen though

Villa don't have much luck signing centre backs from us do they?

Apparently he had a mare, back on the south coast tonight - according to the Sky Sports pundit watching their game.

Losing 3-0 suggests it perhaps wasn't just him though.

Nick you say “what was the point” but I’d have a guess the point for the club was we needed the money to help adjust to a 2nd season in the championship. The point for THB was a chance to play in the top division with a champions league club and not to mention more than double his wages no doubt .

I’m not convinced that Harwood Bellis is a premier league player, championship is probably his level.

Chances are that he’s on PL wages now though, at least for a couple of years.

Agree with this. I always felt he was a bit over hyped and not as good as most thought.

Should start a rumour that he’s going to Middlesbrough in January
That would probably send their fanbase into meltdown

I read that they needed “home grown “ players In their squad . Also there was some muttering both THB and Dobbin was a ffp move for both clubs.

We were perhaps forced to sell him a little, due to the fact that there were no takers for Ramsdale - who was deemed an easy £20m+ sale over the summer window ?

You have to say board did well to sell him for that sum and buy a replacement just as good if not better for a fraction of the fee albeit Schlotterbeck is a little older.

If we get promoted, I'm certain he'll be back after a nothing year at Villa.

I never thought THB played that well in the prem for us. Very good in the championship tho under Russ and Tonda.

Given his record of success at many clubs, Emeri comes across as quite an astute manager and great at getting the best out of his players. Villa were adrift when he took over. He either rates THB but wants to give him time to settle in to the team or doesn't rate him. Given the size of squads at PL clubs these days they may not be buying players for an immediate need. If THB was sold the idea that he was a direct replacement for Konsa, he was misled.

I think it was a master stroke getting Schlotterbeck in.
A left footed centre back is rare in top flight football.
Having that balance in defence can make most right footed players look good.
